...was when Quentin Coryatt laid "THE HIT" on TCU's Kyle McPherson.
I was watching the game at my then girl friends place and I remember telling her...I think "he" just killed that guy.
Never seen anything like it before or since.

One of my first A&M games to attend personally. Damn it was cold that night!

Actually, Solari made "The Hit."

ESPN and the news media wrongfully claimed Coryatt did the damage that night in Cowtown. It was Solari!!!

Same here. I remember the parade of injuries towards the end of the first half with it being cold as ballz.

I would be interested in hearing the receivers recap of this event but I doubt he has much memory of it. Also a "where is he now" update seems fitting.

Still remember watching that game on TV

Obviously That play today would be an ejection and likely another personal foul for taunting as Coryatt stood over him then I believe Derick Frazier celebrated over him also.

I was there too. I was sitting on the east side about 20 rows up on the 30 yard line. It happened right in front of us.

If I remember right Kyle McPherson was a good receiver.

That guy looked like an 8th grader compared to #44. Just reminds me how much I miss the ability of s team to play great physical defense because of all the rule changes. I love 17-13 games so much more than 44-37.

If it was Steve, why is the player wearing a #44? You got some splaining to do Lucy!

There are two games I have watched in my life where the teams were so unevenly matched I was genuinely concerned for the other team's health and safety. That TCU game was one and the other was a Nebraska Vs. Northwestern Alamo bowl.

I saw or read an interview that somebody did with him once - it's been years ago, so the details are fuzzy. But McPhereson said he had no memory of the hit - or about 20 minutes before or after it.

Coryatt stated in the book "Game of My Life" that he pulled up on the hit and could have hit him harder if he wanted.

I read an article that said Kyle McPherson is married with a kid and lives in Ft Worth. He graduated from TCU with a degree I think in Criminal Justice and works in that field.

He doesnt remember getting hit.

I'm not talking about beatdowns. I've seen plenty of those. I am talking about hits so vicious against much smaller and slower players that I felt like someone should stop the game before someone gets hurt. That 2000 Nebraska team was the last old school Nebraska team and had some maulers on it and they were hungry for blood in the Alamo bowl.
