Does this mean I can't carry a pocket knife to Kyle Field any more?

Insanity.

I couldn't find what was and wasn't permitted on any SEC site. I'm sure it is there somewhere....but I did find this from Mississippi State who appears to have already instituted these guidelines. Pocket knives do look like they are NOT permitted.

A&M really needs to issue something like this so fans are fully aware of what they can't bring it or the gates are going to be REALLY slow with a lot of upset people having their items confiscated or having to walk back to their vehicle. That press release by A&M isn't clear and leaves out the most important info which is what is and isn't allowed.

EDIT: To note in the fine print it says blades longer than 4 inches are not allowed. Since most everyone on here doesn't have anything on them longer than 4 inches you're probably safe.

The measures don't have to be implemented till Fall of 2020, they're just putting up the Metal Detectors this weekend to look for cow bells. Good Bull.

That's genius. Didn't think of that. I hope that's true.

Even if I carried a pocket knife under 4 inches I wouldn't try to bring it in just to prevent the disagreement that might ensue with a power hungry gate attendant. I've never had a need for a pocket knife while in Kyle.

Pretty certain that's the current policy. When this goes into full effect there will be additional items. If those were the only prohibited items there really wound't be a need for metal detectors.

About time they beefed up the security at Kyle Field. You wouldn't believe how many people have made it past the front line to the quarterback this year!

Leave your guns, knives, brass knuckles, nunchuks, and ninja stars, in your vehicles.

Ouch, that stings a little.

I guess the AD didn't want to wait until the UTSA game to trot out the metal detectors.

probably be 10,000 less fans at that game compare to Saturday vs. State.

could consider opening the gates 2 hours before kickoff instead of 90 minutes

Are Prince Alberts still allowed? Asking for a friend.

No artificial noise makers.

What about genuine authentic real noise makers? Like a cowbell or a horn, for example.

Uh excuse me but one cell phone, a metal belt buckle, metal sole in your boot, car keys, etc will set it off, just like tsa. Lines will form up the wazoo. Terrible decision with 100k fans. Will have to get there 2 hrs early.

Better show up two hours early to the games to wait to get through the metal detector lines.

Yep, it's getting closer to airport security. A stadium with 100k is a genuine TOA for the bad guys. It's the times we live in.

except it's been "the times we live in" for two decades and the existing measures have worked fine. I'd also submit that the TOAs they are looking for are in metro areas, most likely in one of the coastal megalopolis. Attacking the "heartland" does not generate enough media impact.

Will there be a special line for those of us who are TSA approved?

and quite honestly I'm shocked no nut jobs has picked a stadium for an attack. Everyone is basically sitting ducks with very exit points. So I'm all for the security. Just get there early.

Yeah Clemson had this and that was a mess. It definitely wasn't the best day to try getting into the stadium late.

Well, looks like I'll be avoiding Kyle for the foreseeable future. No snuff, no thank you

Clemson was a giant cluster, and we got there early. Women had caps on (with ponytails out the back) and had to take them off. Screeners were yelling for people to hurry up. That's a little hard to do when you just had to strip off watches, phone, phone cases (if they have magnetic closures), etc. Guess we need man purses to put everything in, lol. Then just let them have that.

Finally! THANK GOD! I cannot tell you how many times my game day experience was ruined by knife fights and the wild gun slinger shooting up several of the people around me. This is FAR OVER DUE. The blood on the stairs made walking to my seat very hazardous.

When the truth comes out, do not ask me how I knew.
Ask yourself why you did not.

I've carried a pocket knife in my pocket every day for 60+ years.

I feel naked without it.
