go be a t-shirt bama or corn dog fan if it's the results (ie - # 1 over the last/ 20 years) you care about.
yes - i like jimbo and the return on my endowments isn't panning out - yet.
aggieball is aggieball and has always been aggieball and will always be aggieball.
i will still watch and scream at the tv and attend an away game and will always hate texas.
I am here for the comments.

You know when us guys that are a bit older keep saying it isn't as loud or intimidating, maybe people will begin to understand????

Graduating in 1996 I can say without question it isn't as loud. Not even close really. Not a bad environment just not what it once was or what it could be.

And I love how it will be built up before we play best team in country as if after a loss people will say "see!".

You mean the stadium was louder when you were sitting in the student section where the majority of the noise comes from? Amazing.

Beat #8 and #12 one year ago.

I'm sorry A&M has a hard time beating #1 Alabama every year, like they're the only ones who have that problem.

Just a few weeks ago Herby was all over the incredible new atmosphere at DKR which hasn't been that great for about a decade. Wow Herb! You mean it's harder to win at Texas when the football team doesn't completely suck? What a concept!

It blows my mind how close these guys are to the game yet are just as reactive as the common fan. They all just recycle the same perceptions that the rest of the media around them spew out until it's all the same narrative.

Getting rid of the stupid ass DJ will definitely help to fix that problem.

This is true. I'm class of '92. There were times we got so loud when I was a student, that I would just stop yelling and listen to the crowd. It was deafening. My ears would ring for hours after a home game. I don't remember the last time the crowd at Kyle caused the opposing offense to jump or get a delay penalty or call a time out.

It happened REGULARLY when I was at school.

Um... we were 4-4 in the SEC at Kyle field during Johnny's 2 years.
Literally lost every home SEC game with any sort of significance

Winning comes and goes for every program in America. But, our traditions are part of what makes us unique. If you are ashamed of that then you should adopt another team because our traditions are bigger than your opinion and will not go away because of it.
Some of our traditions are great. Some of them (the fake army stuff, yell leaders) make us look ridiculous.

I like most of our traditions but the male cheerleader one has got to go.
They are pathetic and make us a laughing stock.
How about just hot female cheerleaders like everyone else ?
I think we are too stubborn to change.

And FFS, home field advantage is 99.99999% about the home team protecting their house by playing much better at home than how loud the crowd is. Usually, the defense plays a big role in protecting every lead and the crowd loves great D so they usually go hand and hand but associated =/ causation. Winning becomes the tradition. Wouldn't that be nice?

Well this is Jimbos 2nd year.

One home loss his first year to the eventual NC.

One so far this year. Most likely two after this weekend.

Year three, LSU will be only top program at home.

There's no need to disrespect what the folks in the Corps of Cadets have chosen to do for themselves, their University and for a large number of them, eventually their country.

They likely haven't chosen to diminish what you were to Texas A&M University.

The stadium renovation put the 12th Man on life support.

The piped in music over the traditional yells finished it off.

The Gig' Em yell at kickoff was always awesome to me, now all I hear is Metallica or some ****.

But we NEVER win big games. Like EVER!
is it the outlier or the norm?

Technically speaking that entire game is an outlier, but the topic of this thread is that A&M never wins big games. I'm just stating that we do.

If we win, our traditions will appear much more legitimate to others, and the hype will become reality. Then we can give everyone - including wife-cheating Herbstreit and his groomed, pretty boy companion - the one-finger hand wave.

Seriously, why did either of you come to A&M?

If you give me the canned answer that it was for the education, then why the hell are you so concerned about football, or gameday experience, or traditions for that matter?

Or, being nice to a visitor at Kyle, even though they are an opponent's fan in our friendly competition that has lasted over a century? I would never want to treat an opponent poorly, it reflects poorly on your character, and the character of all of us.

I believe you should compete in this "GAME" as friendly opponents, both fans and players; and when all's done, shake hands, have a beer together and head home, safely, to your respective families.

Why is that so hard to understand?

BE A 12TH MAN, former or current student, but especially CURRENT STUDENTS. Your are the new breath in that tradition, as well as all the other traditins; you have been passed the torch of being the 12th Man, and you need to hold it, carry it forward, and HONOR our ridiculous traditions . . without them, we are tu.

Finally, the "fake army" crap, tell that to those who I know from my time in the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets that spent their life in the military, serving overseas for 25+ years. And those from that same Corps of Cadets who lost their lives while serving.

One of, if not my biggest regrets, is not signing a contract that day in the Trigon when a Pisshead; but that is another story. . .

I am humbled and have NOTHING but RESPECT for those A&M Cadets that did sign, and serve, selflessly, our country.

What gripes me is the hype that is created by guys like them on the TV. They promote the games to get more viewers. Make it sound like it will be close or stir folks up to think they have a chance. They say outrageous things about mediocre players. Over rank teams including us. Then when the team fails to live up to that hyped standard that they created, they rag on the Ags. Screw those TV personalities and their over hyped egos.

Media is worthless now days. We can see how the team performs and form our own opinions. Stats are not always the only way to measure the quality of players. Most people like myself knew it was not going to be a good year. We hoped it would be better, but it is still early in the 10 ten term for Jimbo. We know the QB, OL, and some defense weaknesses. It cant be fixed without time or a change in players.

Things hopefully will get better, but the fact is we still will play Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Arky next year. It wont magically be easy just dropping a couple top 10 teams.
