I'd go a step further to see where the program is in years 3-5 far more so than judging them on this year. Year 1/2 are way too dependent on the previous coaching staff to know for sure where/what your program is going to be under the new staff. Both on the positive and negative sides.

It's why Gene Chizik, Larry Coker, or Kevin Sumlin can have success in years 1 or 2 and then be fired. Because they can't build programs. Or why Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban at both Michigan State and even LSU took their lumps in the early goings of their tenures. You are very dependent on what you inherit.

I care about building a program far more than just one season in the early going, even as painful as it is to sit through a mediocre year or 2. I expect this year to be mediocre and finish around 7-5 even with excellent coaching down the stretch. Doesn't mean I don't think we take a big step forward in year 3 and beyond.

1. My "source?" I don't recall writing this as some sort of expose on the athletic department where I was able to secure an inside source. I was merely reiterating the opinions of another Aggie on why we don't seem to have success despite our coaches. Perhaps the idea was mindless BS (like 99% of the crap on this forum), but me telling you the person's name isnt going to change the strength or substance of the opinion.

Rule 10.25 of the ncaa handbook is obviously that to win a championship one must have won a championship recently.

You're recruiting a football player who only has interest in you for football. Take away football and the standards they have to fall under to get in, would they even think about an A&M or vice versa under normal circumstances?

Their not the average student who lives to become part of the tradition so you shouldn't be surprised when their football commitment is over. It's back to the real word.

That issue is the same for probably all of the SEC teams.

winning is hard. winning with mediocre qb play is almost impossible. Every major program ( which A&M is ). will get a quality qb on campus every year. Finding the qb and coaching him up so that he will be an all conference player is hard. ButterTeeth lost the job at tu because he kept missing on QB.

The best college student athlete psychoanalysis nearly always is generated from a conversation between two friends (nominally males over 40) followed up with posting about it on Texags. Even more insights can be gained if said conversation was conducted over a few alcoholic beverages.

I hope all the findings have been forwarded in triplicate to Jimbo Fisher. Maybe also send a copy to other SEC coaches so they know to go easy on the team since they may not have bought in to Coach Fisher's plan.
