Simply no way we beat anybody good (Bama, UGA, LSU) and with this crappy offense and a very real chance we drop one or more to someone we shouldn't (USC, MSU, Ark)

We knew it was gonna be tough with this schedule but who thought there was a real chance we'd be fighting just to be bowl eligible?

Well yeah, playing Clemson/UGA/Bama/ and an LSU team that has finally figured out how to throw the ball is going to do that to you. The game yesterday was there for the taking but we started way too slowly and didn't execute in key moments.

This is gonna be a tough season for this website. Buckle up.

I didn't expect much better with the schedule. I predicted 8-4 and now 7-5 if we beat the teams we should beat. The disappointing thing about it is how inept we look on Offense. We can't run the ball at all against elite teams and really didn't look great consistently running the ball against the cupcakes.

If you didn't watch the games and looked at the box score, you would think, "OK, 24-10 loss to #1 Clemson and 28-20 loss to #8 Auburn, not bad", but when you actually watched our Offensive possessions in those games, it was like watching paint dry and at no point were we a threat to even put a scare in the other team.

UTSA is the only sure win on the remaining schedule.

Alabama, Georgia, and LSU are sure losses.

Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss St, and S. Carolina are toss-ups IMO.

I came into the season expecting 8-4.

i knew ahead of time with the key personnel losses webhad- mccoy, dodson, sternberger, mack that beating teams that were on the upswing or in their prime personnel wise like bama georgia LSU, and clemson were unlikely.

still frustrated in Mond's play because if that were corrected things would be much improved.

but i didn't expect much there either because the one thing he has shown us over the past few years is that he does well when there is a clear talent disparity but utterly falls apart when he has to actually manage the game.

has anyone else noticed that there is not a single significant starter on offense or defense who is a senior? that is very telling regarding how poorly sumlin did in his last years of recruiting.

jimbo chose this year not to plug holes with jucos which shows he has a long term plan.
next hear i hope will be different and jimbo's sophomores become juniors and everything starts to gel.

last year was an aberration. this is the real transitioning year and its gonna be painful. buckle up ladies and gents but when we come out the other side there should be a different aggie team than we have ever had before.

From what I have seen so far unless the defense starts scoring 7-5 is the best we can realistically hope for but more than likely we are staring at 6-6. It's even more sad when one of those wins was against a FCS school.

This is a bad trend. Playing catch-up all the time is a sure fire way to have a losing season.

I said 7-5 or 6-6 and didn't mean it to sound optimistic! If the team, or some on the team, quits, then it will be worse than that.

Additionally our two planned starting sophomore running backs, Jackson and Corbin, are out for the season. With ND losing last night we currently are scheduled to play teams ranked #1-4 and #7. That is insane! We have a good team but no elite players that can step up and deliver when needed.

After what I saw yesterday, and I was there thru the bitter f'n end, 7-5 is a VERY optimistic outlook.....

It's always been 7-5 to 8-4 at best...koolaide delusionals drove the incorrect expectations.

1. Lost too much leadership from last year's team (McCoy, TWill, LBs, Dono, Jace)
2. Jace is missed as a weapon (WRs, as a group, cannot get separation on their own)
3. LBs are not the same in experience and leadership (significant errors yesterday)
4. ONeal has been a liability at Safety due to be young (so many errros vs Clem and Aub.; betting he's lost his starting role. Love his exuberance and glad he's an Ag, but just takes himself out of plays too easily by trying to do the spectacular vs. the fundamentals. This is inexperience at playing at the highest level.
5. OL cannot run block, but lack communication and direction as constant errors in who's blocking whom and shifts. This proves how E. McCoy was our most important offensive player last year on so many levels (highly missed). RBs hurt by Corbin's injury and not having Vernon Jackson (very inexperienced, but OL not helping them nor Mond).
6. DEs are young and inexperienced, but could not set the edge yesterday (think Def schemes are too complicated some at times). Setting the edge cost us yesterday's game!
7. Team believed in pre-season hype and playing to headlines vs. earning it game by game (last year success has no correlation / translation into this year's results due to losing Jace, TWill, 2 starting LBs, McCoy, Dono). This is on Jimbo as he made the very same mistake with FSU when they were a paper tiger.
8. Mond has had plenty of mistakes (some crucial), but missing scrambling and running opportunities as a threat has been taken away (trying to be a cerebral QB). Part of this is on Jimbo as he's over-complicated and is over-thinking the offense (and forcing it on Mond) vs. letting him play. Yes, makes Mond a better QB for later, but does not make us a better Offense this year in this circumstance.

Disappointing to see New Army pile out of Kyle early, but get it too. We should never have games in the afternoon during Sept. (should be a rule) as it takes a lot out of the team and the fans in the heat. BUT, the recruits at the game noticed and gives ammo to tu's kissing bandit coach to recruit.

I think Jimbo can get it done, but only time will tell.

To your point: we lost leadership. Who on either side of the ball is a leader?

Last year you had Twill and Jace on offense with McCoy. Defense was Dodson and Mack. Guys that people wanted to follow, even when they didn't realize it.

This year? Totally bereft of a true leader.

That, far and above anything else, was Johnny's greatest attribute. Same goes for Baker Mayfield. Love him or hate him. He is a leader.

It's quite ironic, but that has been the problem with our university the last 20 years save for Gates. We lack true leadership. And until Sharp goes away (he won't until he is dead) we will be a ship with no Rudder.

Get used to it boys. We are in for a long season or two.

It is the floor and at this time most likely. It will take much worse play to lose to Arky, Ole Miss, State and USCe

I'm glad you aren't coaching. It seems you believe a team can't improve after the start of the season.

6 and 6 and possibly 5 - 7.

I think it's safe to assume that this uninspired, unmotivated, rudderless team will drop a deuce against a fired up Miss St and/or USCe.

I agree with the OP, the underclassmen that left early really $h!t the bed for us.

i.e. this is going to be a much longer culture change than we hoped for IF it even happens.

Let's hope for the best and go 7 - 5.

Jimbo should have the foresight to bring in juco's when needed. All successful programs do it. Waiting on freshman to hopefully develop is a bad plan.

TRENDING TOWARD MISERY

Texas A&M: In retrospect, why was everyone so bought in on the Aggies this preseason? Yes, they won nine games in Jimbo Fisher's first year, but if you examine the record closely, there were an awful lot of empty calories in that run aside from the seven-overtime win at home over LSU. A&M fans must now admit after Saturday's 28-20 loss at home to Auburn that their team was overrated. The Aggies will win at least seven games this year, but it's hard to envision how they'll beat anyone good without some more dynamic playmakers or significantly more accurate passing from Kellen Mond. Fans aren't going to blame Fisher, at least for now. Instead, the target is going to be former coach Kevin Sumlin, now at Arizona, who spent his Saturday night fanning the flames with a simple eye emoji tweet shortly after the loss went final.

I came into the season expecting to get totally dominated by Clemson and Auburn, especially Auburn at home.

Not really.

Problem is not the losses, it's that our team looks like dog sht and we can't compete until Q4 when the game is out of reach and the opponents D backs off.

We are a bad offensive football team. Oline bad, running game bad, Mond bad, WRs bad, TE bad.
bv86ag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
This is not a 7-5 team and anybody honest with themselves wii admit it. Looking at the Georgia vs Domers game as well as our 2 losses and you now have to admit just how far behind the elite teams in the SEC we truly are. There is no sugar-coating it away. The evidence is right there for all to see. Blame it on Sumlin or whoever but Jimbo Fisher himself said just lasr year this team is not ready. I think everyone is growing more impatient as the years go by because those of us over 50 have seen this pattern repeat itself decade after decade with Aggie football. 75 million dollars and Sumlins 16 mil or so....and here we are. I think folks are ready to see some positive gains for their investment. And it cannot come soon enough. 1939 was a long time ago
Even Aggies will tire of this and just stop going to games soon enough if this program cannot compete for titles. It is getting old. 80 years old.
