The 12th Man has always been comprised of college kids, and while A&M's are on average much more dedicated to their team than most, they're still college kids.

I'm sorry bud, but you are officially a dumb ASS.

Up until the '50's., the A&M College of Texas, Texas A&M, was comprise of overwhelmingly male, military bound "college kids".

THEY are the ones who are the basis and birth of the 12th Man Tradition and moniker.

They were not "college kids! They were very young, loyal and committed. And, ready to actually sacrifice for their country.

Not too much to ask for today's students to stick it out to the end of a game, behind or not, in a first class stadium, with concessions all throughout. Stick it out 'till the end of a game with the team, before you go home to your satellite TV, or the local bar or burger joint.

Please open your mind young one, think about, NOT the ones my age (58), but rather the ones
who actually established the traditions of this great university, the A&M College of Texas.

I didn't realize the student section made up 2/3 of the stadium. Either that or the olds now use snapchat.

Then why did the olds leave too? The former student aide looked even leaner than the student section. Quit *****ing about the new generation when this entire school and it's fanbase is used to mediocrity.

And I'm old but not crazy old but Kyle isn't loud or intimidating anymore. How many penalties did we help force Auburn and freshman QB into?
Nothing looks more foolish than tradition to those who have none.

I didn't go. But I quit watching the game at halftime.

I know this comes as a shock to some folks, but there are other things in life outside of football - and getting pissed off over a garbage football game isn't worth it to me anymore. I found productive things to do, and if I had been in the stadium - it would be a 50/50 for me leaving early. I'd stay out of spite because of the cost of tickets, but I also know it takes 2 friggin hours to get out of town when 100k people all leave at the same time - so a head start to avoid the charlie foxtrot that is getting to my car and then fighting traffic is wise.

This "we need to stay and suffer through a garbage game because we somehow owe it to the team" mentality is, frankly, stupid. I'm a paying spectator - I spend my money how I see fit.

Demand for live sports is decreasing -- you are seeing the product of that.

We think it's not going to happen to us because it's football in Texas, but it's already begun -- just at a slower rate than other areas of the nation. But unless we start fielding a consistent Top 15 team, it's going to hit us hard. Stadium is enormous, tickets are expensive, and it's an hour+ drive for the major metro areas.

Throw in the time commitment involved, and you've already started seeing a large % of the fanbase admit that the tailgating/camaraderie is what drives them to make the trek -- not the actual game.

People are starting to realize that much (not all) of that same environment can be duplicated with a game watching party at a fraction of the cost and time commitment. Enormous TVs can be had for the price of a fancy dinner out. Food options 10x as good (and quick, and cheaper) as those offered by Levy. Temperature controlled environment. Time-shifting TV broadcast. A better view of the game than any seat in the stadium. You're still getting together to cheer on your Aggies, but you're doing it for 2.5 hours and $20/person... Not 7+ hours and hundreds per.

If A&M isn't putting a national title caliber team out on the field, you are going to continue to see people leave early when the score isn't going well, when the temperature is hot, etc, etc... A string of mediocre years, and you'll start to see the place 30% empty.

Compared to other fanbases the A&M fanbase is well above average -- but it's not going to stem the tide of what is happening nation-wide. There's just much cheaper, better options to watch the game... and a lot of other options for one's entertainment $/time.

Kyle Field isnt much of a home field anymore. Whens the last time we won a big time ranked matchup at home? (Excluding 2018 LSU)

Why leave that out??
That's kinda like saying "when's the last time we had a heisman winning QB?!? (excluding JFF 2012)"

This is so, so tired. Kyle Field is an incredible home field. We just have to have the team on the field to win. Saturday was brutally hot and humid, the Ags were down 7 after 3 plays and a penalty, and down 14-3 by the end of the 1st quarter.

Also, last year the Ags beat #13 Kentucky at Kyle.

2016 beat #16 UCLA & #9 Tennessee.

What's worse. Leaving early. Or sitting the whole game(all AC sections at least). Never standing or yelling, even on big 3rd downs (the Clemson alumni side stood almost the whole game). Not waving your towel. Hanging out in the concession area, yucking it up with your friends and kids all game. That's what I saw. Leaving early is not the problem.

We are not SEC ready as a fanbase. Change my mind.
With companies buying many of the suites (Chevron, etc.), I have wondered how many people who are coming to games really have a connection to A&M or if they are just getting free tickets from work and decide to bring their kids for a fun day. The feeling I get is that there are more people who did not go to school at A&M - and thus have much less stake in maintaining traditions - coming to our games than there were a decade or so ago.

Kyle flexes it's muscle most when it's late in a tight game. 1st quarter helps, but there's still a lot of time left for that other team to acclimate. Olds aren't that loud either in Q1.

But in Q4, tight game, both sides pressing a little, fans getting rowdy (even the olds)....that's when you see it.

This past Saturday didn't have a chance. Cleared out after Q3.

"A spirit, can ne'er be told"??

Don't want Kyle to empty out early? How about the team show up and play at the very beginning?

The new Kyle Field was overbuilt. The unique Aggie college football game experience has been sacrificed to be more like an NFL stadium. The lights and amplified sounds are annoying. It is more like a pinball machine than college football. I have been going there since the 1950s and it just isn't Kyle Field anymore. The "upgrades" have ruined it. The crowds will behave more like NRG stadium crowds than Aggie crowds.

My personal opinion is that the history and spirit that created the 12th Man have been lost. "Home of the 12th Man" on the face of the east side of the stadium is embarrassing when the stadium is empty in the 3rd quarter. As already stated, there are many ways to watch the game now besides being there. Less cost, less time, less heat. We didn't have all of those comfy cozy options decades ago. Sellouts will become rare. Naturally, a better product on the field will help.

About last Saturday specifically, I talked to students today that were at the game. They said it was unbearably hot and that is why they all left. They said it was hard to stay hydrated and several left in ambulances. I was not there myself, just passing on what current students told me.

Just reinforcing my point: if you're not willing to sacrifice and put up with inconvenience, then don't claim the moniker. STICK with it, that's what you're asking the team to do. You should do the same!!

We used to be Aggies, not paying spectators.

But I guess that tells much about society today.

55 year olds who are season ticket holders on the west side walked right out with 8 minutes left and no shame. At some point, your intelligence and self-respect is insulted.

I stay to the end of every game. I live 110 miles away. It has never taken me more than 2-1/2 hours to get from my seat to my home.

Third year of Mond and the same old inconsistent QB! People are tired of it and losing interest... our defense was horrendous under Sumlin, but the play of Johnny Manziel kept people in the seats. Kellen Mond is consistently inconsistent and it's boring AF
