You have to remember that UH TANKED in the CUSA championship and a lot of people said that exposed Sumlin, that he would never win the big game and his scheme was not SEC ready, plus after years of Defensive agony many wanted a Defensive Coach.

I got the most grief on here of anyone because I said Sumlin was a fraud that made Fran look like a decent guy.

And I did get banned, derided, and accused of all manner of untoward things.

I recall how I said Sumlin shotgun only offense wouldn't work. Johnny made me wrong. But this shifted. And 90% of you blasted me. It's the circle the wagons mentality.

And all the other BS was embraced with open arms and all the media personalities( especially on this site) loved every second of it like a 11 year old little girl.
You can support a coach and do your job without worshiping the man.

It was obvious in 2013 Sumlin was way outta his league.

I'm really hoping we lose the Sumlin uniforms( shoulder atrioes, bevel numbers and matte helmets) this year, the Sumlin entrance.
Distance ourselves as far away from that train wreck as possible.

The only time Coach Sumlin was defensive was in the weekly press conference.

I remember at the time in 2011, the consensus seemed to be Kirby Smart, Charlie strong or Sumlin


Obviously hindsight says Kirby Smart would have been the best choice. But at least sumlin was better than strong

Aggies ate up the idea swag would win games.

Yeah by 2013 it was 100% clear this offense wouldn't work.

If we would have hired Smart, pretty sure he would have left for Georgia anyway
