Some were talking about how much better Mond looked today and seem to ignore the competition.

Do you realize the S IL Qb has been pretty bad all season except for against Ole Miss? 5 TD 6 int. against other competition But against Ole Miss looked pretty darn good.

So you are happy that Mond did a little worse than S IL Qb???

I was pointing out the facts, which many people on here seem to want to ignore and replace with their emotions. You omitted the fact that he threw it 47 times and that he threw two interceptions because it fit your narrative. Use complete facts, not these little half truth/lies by leaving something out.
Any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

He had his best game of the season against the worst defense in our schedule? How bizarre.

His best game of the season was against the #2 team in the country.

But yes you expect him (and the team) to play better vs weaker opponents.

He's best on quick releases. When he holds on to the ball and starts making reads is when I'm nervous.

Complete Facts, are you kidding me???

You ignore Monds int and fumble that not only cost A&M points but gave 7 points to the opposition.

How about you using complete facts, not half truths. Give me a freakin break!

Oh, and by the way (since you want me to post all stats) Sam Straub also rushed for a TD so he accounted for 5 total TD's.

Mond has a very strong arm. And it's not a baseball wind-up strong.

His struggles are improving his footwork and quicker decision making.

he seemed to have a hard time getting the ball to the endzone on the auburn hail mary. The ball does not EXPLODE out of his hand. Few quarterbacks have that kind of arm and Mond isn't one, yet.

You can decide the semantics but Mond's arm strength is in the + category on his scouting report.

IMO he has not made that kind of progression at this point in the season.
Hope today might be a jump start for the rest of the season.

I was hoping for more too but given the OL issues, lack of wr talent (especially when Ausbon was out) and noting he played the 3, 6, 11, 14, and 37th ranked defense in 5 of the last 8 games you can maybe understand how hard it would be for the offense as a whole (and the qb) on year 1 of a new system to not look inconsistent. And I think he is shouldering tons of blame that might ought to be more distributed across the whole offense.

That being said, I wouldn't have had an issue if Starkel was told to come in today because I even said the same thing myself. Then he came back out, rallied and finished strong.

Where did Mond learn to intentionally ground rather than take a sack? Is that a Sumlin thing or IMG? He does it way too much not to be strategic.

Was this an attempt at a slight against Mond? I'd rather him try to throw it away and get an incomplete vs take a sack because the penalty for intentional grounding is literally a sack.

You're right. No sense in getting outside the tackles, throwing at an eligible receivers feet or God forbid trying to make a play.

I'm guessing there's some genius behind his constant overthrows too?

You posed a scenario of Mond either taking a sack or throwing it away risking intentional grounding. I responded accordingly.

RE read what you posted. If you had said "why does he try to keep a play alive by scrambling" then I would have responded differently

But he doesn't. He intentionally grounds the ball. Repeatedly.

Still stares down his receivers SO bad. The pick he threw in the 3rd quarter, intended for Gilly IIRC......I know you couldn't see the play develop at home, but I was watching the safety on that play. Mond stared his receiver down so bad the guy was already on his way to Gilly before Mond had even started his windup. You could see it happen before he even released it. If he can learn to look off his receivers a little better I actually think he'll be ok

With two games left, he's probably the QB unless he get injured. His flaws have been discussed ad nauseam

I would suggest not ignoring the mistakes, but actually rooting for the kid and looking for his positives in the remaining two games. Some of you guys are way to hard on a 19-20 year old kid going out there week after week when it's not his choice to be played or not. The kid is trying his best for his team and his school. Would be nice to see a little more people root for him these last two games instead of constantly tearing him down.

He may not be the ultimate answer for us at QB, but he does deserve people to root for his best interest when he's not even in control of when he plays or not.

If you actually watch the play, he did right. He didn't lock on him. He was looking left then came to Gilly. But he hesitated on the throw. It was a beat off. If you objectively look at it and have any real football knowledge you can see he is improved over last year. He is still a work in progress. He still locks on to receivers, but he is improving in his progressions. I believe he can he developed into the QB we need. I really like the Foster kid as our next QB. We need more patience on here. What we see this year isn't what we will see in Jimbo year 4. The cabinet was not bare but the talent is thin at places. Jimbo is putting his system in place but he is tinkering it to fit what he has instead of tearing it down. He is doing what he can to be competitive this year. He knows that recruiting is the lifeblood to win big. That's what I really like about Jimbo and how I know he is the right coach. He is willing to change to meet his talent.

I actually thought his read was OK on the pick. Looked like the route was there, but he was just late and missed the window to complete it. Absolutely agree with the balance of your post. Jimbo knows quarterbacks - his track record proves it. And he's playing Mond because given the youth and lack of depth he has around him that's what gives us the best chance to win. Having Ausbon back is huge for him. I think Jimbo will make him better, and I think he starts again next year........and it will be nice to finally be one of the teams with an upperclassman experienced QB while others are breaking in new starters. Fitz is gone from MSU after this year, Ta'amu is gone from Ole Miss, and I sure think Stidham leaves Auburn for the draft. All of that in our own division....

Edited: I didn't realize burrow still had 2 years of eligibility when he grad transferred to LSU.

Quartney was WIDE OPEN in the middle of the field on the pick. There wasn't a defender within 7 yards of him and Kellen threw to Cullen in double coverage.

Overall #11 did ok yesterday but, he was far from great.
