I noticed that tickets for the Arkansas game are not going down much despite them not being very good this year and us likely having two losses when we play them. What gives? I also think that playing in Jerryworld is getting a little tired at this point. The veneer has rubbed off the stadium a bit now that it is 10 years old.

Veneers still look pretty solid.

I wish whoever landed that spaceship there would put the Dayless Cowboys in there and return to wherever they came from.

We have a stadium that held over 104,000 last Sat.---around 90,000 when contract signed. So what do we do? Go to Arlington every year costing a home game every other year. Playing at ATT is over-rated and overpriced in every respect. I recall hearing that playing in Metroplex would help recruiting in the Metroplex. Might pick up two or three recruits as a result. Nothing helps recruiting like good coaches and winning.

I call bs that it helps recruiting. I'm sure it has to do with collecting a paycheck.

I think Jerry stuck us on the contract such that it wasn't economically feasible to get out of it. The only explanation I can come up with. Clearly a better deal for piggies than us and he has no reason to help us out considering his allegiance.

This same thread is started every year. Probably by Houstonian's too.

It would be nice to know the cost reference for the tickets in question.

Nowhere else in this thread that *****es about ticket prices is there an actual price mentioned.

Holy Sheeeeeeet! I just looked it up myself... no fkn way am I spending that kind of money to support Jerruh. TV is free.

Important to note that each school gets close to 100% of ticket revenues from the game and Jerruh gets 100% of concessions and parking. So.......we can blame ticket prices on the two schools. Look at what BDF schools charge for tix to the same venue and you will figure out pretty quickly it's not Jertuh getting rich off the ticket sales. The schools set and benefit from those prices.

Now....just imagine every other year that the game is at Kyle......no way the TMF would be able to increase season ticket prices to equal the every year incremental revenue from that game. So......we need to be screaming to the powers that be to not renew the contract when it expires.

I heard for many years all the arguments for playing Arkansas up there in the metroplex.

I have read all the recruiting explanations. For ever and ever and ever.

That said, my personal preference is home and home. I don't want to go to the metroplex for an Aggie home game. I would prefer a game in Aggieland and a game in Fayetteville. It is just simply more enjoyable for me.

And, I don't live in Houston...

Just my personal preference.

Ticket prices are the reason I won't go to this game and I'm one who used to burn disposable income on Aggie football. Watching at home and doing other things makes way more sense.

Hey, everyone's not as hip as u n me. Some are just now catching up. It's a big world, and some folks have been doing "other things" with their time. Just go with it. This too shall end...eventually...I hope...

And, ditto what HeyNav posted. College games were meant to be played on college campuses, with the exception of bowl games, which were a bonus/prize.

the Arkansas game in Jerryworld has turned into a huge disappointment.

consider that ticket prices are still the same as they were in 2009. 9 years later...still the same. You know that wasn't Byrne's plan when the original deal was announced back in 2008. They thought it would turn into a cash cow. But attendance has stalled in the 60k range.

there are very few sporting events/venues in the year 2018 that are still charging the same prices as they did in 2009

If you were not at Kyle Field for Clemson, you missed out on a great experience.

Being in the Kyle Field environment during the game and the A&M campus environment to include the fellowship among Aggies throughout the entire campus pre-game makes any any any game scheduled off campus just a pale comparison.

Ha! Others would disagree.

I used to want to go to Fayetteville, but friends have told me that Arky fans are some of the worst. Back in the '60's, during their and Broyle's heyday, I attended several Arky games at Kyle, and they were the best SWC fans, as far as I was concerned, based upon their attendance, and spirit/enthusiasm. That feeling continued through my own time in school throughout the '60s. But after they left for the SEC, I lost track of them. No doubt the culture has changed, for the worse, post Broyles.

Absolutely this! The atmosphere was electric! I don't recall ever experiencing anything like that during my days as a student, with the possible exception of when we beat tu my fish year ('67). It had to have been insane, if not as loud, but that was 51 years ago.

But, the students deserve that game to be played at Kyle! I'm certain it'll return when the current contract expires.

My only worry with returning the Arky game to home/away is that we'll start using pro stadiums for non-conference P5 games, like Bama does, instead of having them be home-and-home series.

Tickets overpriced? My suite tickets to last year's Jerryworld game were free! Courtesy of the man himself!
