My mom found this old magazine the other day. From 1966 (year I was born) yep, I'm old.

Oddly not as far off as you would think in some ways.

Edit: Good old G. Rollie still there though!

I'm pretty sure that is supposed to be G. Rollie (flat roof). DeWare was west of there.

And that's a pretty small crowd.

Right you are young man. I remember my dad, class of '50 getting that magazine. A far cry from the single deck with the press box on the alumni side I saw in the fall of '66.
The person that is not willing to fight and die, if need be, for his country has no right to life.

Well, they were coming off a 3-7 season with a 1-6 conf record. Look at all the 2%ers leaving the game early

Some poor drafter had draw each person by hand, waste of time to draw a full seating area

Great find. If you look closely, it resembles current Rice Stadium in Houston, which was finished in the mid 1950's, built in one year by Brown & Root; they may have been looking at that as the future. Back then, Rice regularly outdrew the Aggies and it was often sold out; it was the place to be on Sat afternoon. Patrons would attend games in suits & ties w/ the ladies in their in nice dresses.

That stadium STILL has some of the best sight lines you will find in any stadium.

Didn't get the dimensions of the scoreboard quite right. Can't tell if it's HD or not. Not sure which commercial is being played.

Who do you think envisioned it and made it become a reality, junior? The yungs?

I found a copy of the Aggie Club brochure from 1966 with this rendering on the cover. It was in Dad's Aggie stuff which I sorted after he passed.

I'm sure no one could envision so much asymmetry in one stadium!

Yep, I stand corrected, Deware was closer. My bad. And I even graduated in G. Rollie!

In the last few years of my father's life, mostly he was mentally OK but once in a blue moon would have these moments of saying something that was kind of odd. About 1-1/2 years ago he and my mom were in my car taking about the Super Bowl being in Houston. My dad said yes a few years ago they had the Super Bowl in Rice stadium. (Was confusing it with the timeframe with the 2004 Super Bowl at Reliant.)

We said nicely, you needed to be careful when he would say things like this to not make a big deal out of them, no we think that was at Reliant and he said well I know they had it at Rice.

Mom looked it up on her phone real fast and sure enough we saw it had been at Rice Stadium. We moved to Houston in 1970 so this happened after we were there but I would've only been 7, turning 8 that year. Ironically I will always be the same age as the Super Bowl is the first one was a 1966.

Good old Dad, he remembered it being there even when we didn't. He's been gone almost a year now and I sure miss him.

He was class of 53 and did get to go to two games in the renovated Kyle so he certainly saw a lot. We've had season tickets since 1984.

You know I'm thinking the same thing. I took a quick snapshot when she showed it to me but next time I'm over at her place all asked to see it again and take photos of the inside. Just snapped the cover for some reason.

Annie.......we're the same age. Pretty cool find. Not too far off the mark. Funny they saw G Rollie as "the future" though.

Also not seeing where the DJ hangs out.

Your signature is a quote (allegedly) of something that Rudder said. But I can't find but one indirect reference to it.

Not only is it wrong, I don't believe he actually ever said that. You try to substantiate it with a date, but I can't verify that either.
