2019: improvement and maybe a New Years bowl.
2020 Nipping at the heals of the SEC West
2021 SEC West + playoff birth?
2022 SEC+Natty
If we make a New Years bowl in 2019 Jimbo is a God.

Monster Schedule with 9 tough games:
@Clemson
@Georgia (Grown men that bark at you "shivers")
@Corndogs
@Ole Piss
N* Piggies
vs. BAMA
vs. Auburn
vs. Leg Humpers
vs. South Carolina

I know some will say that a few on our schedule aren't worth noting but South Carolina is trending in the right direction and on a roll in recruiting. The MS schools always give us a game and we've been to OT 3 of the last 4 years against Arky. There are questions with LSU and Arky (new coach) and only time will tell. This list, right now on paper, has the potential to be the hardest schedule next year in college football. I know I'm shedding a little doubt in this post but I believe in Jimbo and I can't wait to see our boys take all comers. **I know you said "maybe"**

Have never understood the mentality of constantly talking about an accomplishment before it happens.

Shouldn't we start out with a 9 or 10 win season (first time since 2013) first.?Then maybe try to win the SEC West. Then try for the SEC championship next? Once we have accomplished this (for the first time in 20 years), then we can realistically talk about a National Championship.

Let's do it and then talk about it.

The way Mizzou is trending, they may not have any students left by 2021.

There is a real chance the Playoff expands to 6 or 8 by then, so you might not be far off.

I am optimistic for the future of Aggie football, but cautiously so. To predict great achievements years before it might happen seems way too optimistic. Let's see how we progress before awarding a future team the NC.

If A&M was truly serious about making the College Football Playoff, you should have stayed in the Big 12.

I know you hate Texas. I know you hate Oklahoma. Big 12 sucks...Texas was terrible. Unfair shake. Got it. It's accurate too.

But the Big 12 gave you a much cleaner path to the CFP. There you only had Texas and Oklahoma as true contenders.

In the SEC West you will have to go through Alabama, Auburn and LSU in your own division. Those 3 schools have won Natty's in the last 30 years. Then if you make it to Atlanta, you will have to get through Georgia. Florida and Tennessee can't stay terrible forever (another 3 schools who have won it all.)

A&M may have left Texas behind and you can say good riddance to them, but you have made it much, much, much more difficult to ever reach the pinnacle of CFP.

Also, if you add Texas back to your sked -- which I know is a source of much discussion/consternation/anger -- you will just increase the difficulty even more.

Good post Even though I don't like it, it is true.

Possibly true. However, recruiting has been better as the only Texas team in the SEC.

Biggest gain with the move to SEC has been marketing/exposure. Additionally, every week is significantly more fun and we fit the culture.

In the B12 the best game Day environments were NU and A&M...both gone. Others were ok, but not great...Texas, OU, Tech, KSU...the rest are pretty pathetic. In the SEC, every week you play in a big time environment. Gone are the days when you only look forward to 3 maybe 4 games a year.

I agree with you too! I love the move and all that comes with it but as stated above it is definitely a tough road and I for one think it is attainable!

As a Clemson fan, we heard the same talk from the Chickens. How it's so much fun being the "big-time SEC" where every week is a war. Every road game is exciting -- this week in the Swamp, next week at Sanford Stadium, then later traveling to Rocky Top, etc. Trust me, we are quite familiar with those talking points. We after all do LIVE in SEC country.

For a while, I can say we even gave those points some measure of being somewhat true and longing to play that type schedule. Then the greatest change in college football -- The Playoff -- came along.

Now, I don't think there are many Clemson fans who would trade places. The ACC offers a much cleaner path and more importantly a chance to build a strong program which can dominate for years at a time. Only Miami, FSU, and Clemson really have that ability. The SEC has about 6 schools - not including A&M -- who could do that.

Now, A&M has WAY more upside potential than the Chickens. And I'd love to see A&M develop a strong program -- after taking 2 Ls against us -- to knock Bama off its perch. But you are swimming with the sharks in the SEC. You WERE a shark in what is left of the Big 12.

As for the Chickens, their smart fans know they are pretty much FOOKED. The playoff has given their rival a big advantage in that our path is like a strenuous mountain hike -- not easy, but manageable. Their path looks more like climbing Everest. A&M will start a little higher on the mountain than the Chickens, but its still a incredibly tough path ahead to get to the summit.

Not including A&M!? I understand we have a lot to prove but get the feck outta here! Acting like y'all were some perennial power before Dabo showed up. And acting like Tennessee is in a better position than us. I hope we stomp a mud hole in your arrogant @$$.

I don't know if I completely agree with this. The last year, the ACC had at least as tough as a road to the playoffs as the SEC did.

Although I will argue the SEC has better gameday atmospheres from what I've heard compared to a lot of ACC schools. Not that Clemson isn't a phenomenal gameday experience by any means.

Can you tell me the years A&M dominated a conference? Can you tell me when A&M was in the hunt for a Natty?

I remember the Wrecking Crew and Jackie Sherill. A&M was pretty good in the 80s but the Southwest Conference is no longer in existence. It didn't include Oklahoma either as they were in the Big 8. A&M won like 1 championship in the Big 12 over K-State. Am I missing any others?

Clemson was pretty good in the 80s too. In fact we won a Natty then. We have 2 and played for a third. 2 Nattys in the last 40 years puts you in the Top 10% of all college football.

As for Tennessee, I hate them. But they have won a Natty in the last 25 years. It is possible to win there. They've proven it with a Natty and a few SEC titles.

The last 2-3 years the ACC Atlantic has been tougher than the SEC East. But the ACC nor any other conference has had to deal with a team like Bama. They have been a machine.

Question is whether you want to play them in SEC West, SEC Championship or CFP? I'll take the playoffs.

How insecure do you have to be to go to another teams website and defend your team? Seriously.

Apparently Clemson, LSU, and sip are all cut from the same sanitary napkin....

Very nice welcome.

Unlike LSU and Texas, most Clemson fans actually pull for A&M. Certainly want to see you beat the Chickens like a drum. Then any L you can put on Bama or Auburn is helpful to us as well. And next year UGA.

Go Aggies! Gig 'em!

You make good points, but you are also saying this in the midst of the greatest 5 year run in school history.

Yes, you have a natty in the early '80's, but overall, Clemson is very similar to A&M. I'd put Clemson, A&M, Michigan St, Wisconsin, Auburn, and UCLA in the same historical catagory.

Your path to the natty is easier...still doesn't make every sat exciting...especially silly after you lose a game or two and out of it.

Congrats to Clemson...I'm a fan and hope Jimbo is our Dabo. At the end of the day, SEC games are more fun, period. There's no doubt about it. There's more money in the SEC. there's better overall talent in the SEC. Our recruiting is better in the SEC...just imagine once Jimbo starts winning!

I disagree. You are correct if our goal is to make it to the CFP Our goal is to win the CFP. We would not have the recruits to win the CFP if we'd stayed in the bdf (see OK).

My personal experience FWIW after going to almost all our CFP games you almost have to go there, experience it, and play in it before you can win it all. It's a much different environment than just a regular bowl game, a BCS bowl or conference championship game.

Then if you win the semi you have a week to prepare for the Championship. UGA was fortunate the Natty was in ATL as they came back from LA and the Rose Bowl and didn't really have to travel again.

Even so, I also thought UGA sorta choked last year when they got right to the edge of winning it all. It's like the moment caught up to them. Bama stayed cool because they had been there before.
