As a Thunder fan and Aggie fan and grad, I didn't think I could love Myles anymore and then he rips that cupcake for "taking the easy way out"

Thank you Myles!

Love MG, but maybe he should tap the brakes unless he's committed to a full career with the Browns.

You go from thinking you have a dynasty one day with Russ, KD and Harden to finding your joys in Myles ripping KD because you realize all hope is in the past...

Kinda thinking the same thing. Although it'll never be the same as these super teams in the NBA, you should always be wary of making statement like this because you never know what team you'll be on.

football and basketball are very different in those respects.

There's only 5 players on an NBA team and it very much has become a super team league. A super team will be needed to take down the Warriors.

The same cannot be said for the NFL, there's too many moving parts to create a super team that's almost a guarantee as it is in the NBA.

I wonder what his opinion of Lebron will be if he goes to the Rockets to create another super team to challenge the Warriors.

Myles putting in his time in Cleveland and then leaving in free agency is not remotely close to Durant situation. The two are not comparable.

I hate KD as much as the next guy (Rockets fan here), but I don't understand hating on him because he joined the Warriors. If you are one of the best players in the NBA, and you receive an offer from the best team in the NBA, why the hell would you turn it down?

I think KD screwed himself by not speaking up for himself. If I were him, the first time I would've had a press conference as a member of the Warriors I would've just laid it out for the press and viewers. "Hell yeah I signed with the Warriors. I'm one of the best damn players in the league, and it's pretty much guaranteed I'm going to win multiple championships here. I would be stupid to reject this offer. Sorry I'm so good at this game that me joining this team is considered 'unfair'. Dear rest of the league, get good. Bye."

seems like you should be upset with a terrible GM rather than Durant leaving. They chose to trade Harden for bread crumbs. that wasn't KDs fault.

KD is a whiny titty baby who uses burner Twitter accounts to defend himself on the internet.

On the one hand I agree with Myles that joining a team that had just broken the regular season wins record and recently won a championship was lame as well as bad for the league, but I'll never fault a player for choosing the San Francisco bay area over Oklahoma City or leaving a franchise that chose to trade James Harden. Plus, Russell Westbrook (while incredibly impressive in a lot of ways) does not seem like he'd be a fun player to play with.

If the Browns continue to be a mess I hope Garrett leaves Cleveland rather than having a hall of fame Joe Thomas type career that never gets a real playoff moment.

Didn't kd or someone on the warrior team take a pay cut to get him there?

I do not know this to be true. Why I'm asking.

If so, that's the problem. They kinda did the same thing in Miami didn't they with lebron?

Myles is missing an important part of KD's move: Fun

KD had little fun with Russell Westbrook. He did great things for OKC and owed the city nothing. The guys on GSW wanted KD, didn't care about the spotlight of KD, and gave him the chance to have fun in the workplace.

The competitor talk is nice for speculation but I fault no league vet for finding a team they enjoy working with. Most of us do/want the same.

LeBron already did that when he went to Miami.

Karl Malone to the Lakers
Barkley to the Rockets
Pippen to the Rockets
Garnett and Allen to the Celtics

It's happened before Lebron and Durant.

I'm not sure any of those won a ring.

Bakery and Malone didn't. Scotty I don't remember with the rockets

Garnett and Allen won. Still a lot that the move didn't work out for

They didn't, but they definitely joined these squads with one reason in mind. Making a super team to make it easier to win a championship.

I don't believe there is such a thing as loyalty in pro sports anymore, which is why I only follow them from a distance. It's all money. Sure, I celebrated when the Astros won the WS, but more for the city and not the players.

Transfers in college sports have eroded the loyalty there, too, but it still better than the pros.

Yeah, they probably learned not to wait like Malone, Barkley, Garnett and Allen. Go ahead and snag one while you're in your prime.

Plus pro sports is just that, people paid to play a game. You have no loyalties. College ball is and should be different, you should be invested in the school. The nba is just an employer. Do you think these dudes are happy about being drafted because they get to play in the nba for the fans and the owners or because they are about to get PAID?

It's their dream to take care of momma and be set for the rest of their life financially. Teams come and go, switch cities, etc,

i do find it interesting that on a board of mostly conservative aggies there are so many who seem upset by the thought of talented employees seeking out the best possible company/job/employer for them.

You're misunderstanding my opinion on the subject. I'm all for the players doing whatever the heck they want do. Screw the fans, media or whoever else is upset about them forming a super team- even though they are the ones essentially paying the players their salaries.

I liked Malone although I thought he played really dirty. Threw elbows every play it seemed.

Guy drove a 18 wheeler on the off season hauling potatoes I think. Thought that was interesting.

Can't be that bad of a guy. Lol.

the best Karl Malone story was from when he was on the Lakers and he tried to bang Kobe's wife

Quote:

Malone's agent, Dwight Manley, told the Los Angeles Times on Sunday that Malone was asked by Vanessa Bryant, "Hey, cowboy, what are you hunting?" in reference to Malone wearing a cowboy hat and boots.

"She said it twice," Manley said, "and Karl answered, 'I'm hunting for little Mexican girls.'

Have no idea why you're bringing politics into this. I'm as free market capitalist as you can get yet I understand sports leagues are different. The Astros want to beat the Rangers on the field (and vice-versa) but neither wants to put the other one out of business or even take all of their fans. In business, I want my competitors customers, to the extent I can service them, and if the competitor goes out of business, all the better. Not only that, but I also want my sports rival to win enough (except against me) to keep their franchise where it is at. It would be a shame for the NFC East (not to mention the NFL) if Dallas or Washington folded or got bought out and moved to Boise, renamed, and put into another division.

Aside from that, I'm not sure your premise is correct anyway. Either way, business and sports are 2 different things.

He played the game the way he saw fit and did what's best for KD, even if it's to the overall detriment of the league (and it is). It's bad for the overall product when only 2 or 3 teams have a realistic chance of winning it all. I haven't seen the ratings numbers for the finals yet but, you know how many minutes I watched?

But it's hard to completely fault him for going to GS. Now if he starts falling into the typical athlete cliche about "all the adversity I / we've overcome" then yeah he's a hypocrite of the highest order. But I haven't heard that yet.

except its not bad for the league.
also, the nature of a sport that is played by so few players is that it is dominated by the biggest superstars. the entire history of the NBA there have only been 3 or 4 teams with a shot to win the title. if you dont have a top 8 player and a 2nd top 30 player you dont have a shot. that has been true for virtually the entire history of the league other than a few exceptions.
