Anyone notice season ticket sale. 6/5 to 6/11?

overpriced. Looks like nobody wants to rent a Sherpa to get to upper endzons.

They still won't sell many at that rate. They still don't realize how things are trending. We spent half a billion dollars to expand our stadium's capacity in an era where attendance is shrinking.

The bottom line is that I can sit at home in my air-conditioned house on my leather couch and watch the game in brilliant high definition on my 120 inch projector and drink my own good beer and good food without having to drive hours or spend a fortune on a hotel room. Also, I still have enough of the day to be on the golf course or go fishing.

Yes. We missed the boat on that one.

That's because you are a casual fan. That's not meant as an insult, it just is what it is.

I'd rather be tailgating all day and at the game. I can sit on my couch any day of the week and drink beer. It's a lot more exciting to be at the game, and being at home watching the game is dull to the diehard fan.

I'll stick to finding $20 second deck tickets on Flashseats the morning of the game.

Disagree...I have no desire to split hairs over a pissing contest to see who the bigger fan is, but I am as crazy about a&m football as anyone.

My first 5 years after graduating I drove into College Station for every game, but then I hit a tipping point as I gradually came to the conclusion that you can follow a game and see tight, close plays so much better with a 65+ inch HD TV then you can at Kyle even with especially good seats. The reality is despite having a 120 yard field, football is a game of inches where it sucks sitting so far away from a close play (even with good seats).

Of course I still make sure I'm at Kyle for the atmosphere and tailgating of the biggest 1-2 games a year, but it's a much better football watching experience at home.

They're $315 with fees right now on the website. They gonna refund the price between those tickets and my season tickets in the same row? If I cancel my tickets and then buy discounted season tickets, that accomplishes the same thing, right? I'll sit a few seats away from my family if I'm saving 40% off the ticket price.

So you'd rather see one close play a game that you'll be able to see over and over again (plus can generally tell at a game on the big screen) vs being able to see the missed wide open receivers in real time, if it is a zone/man, how agressive the teams are being. Who was actually at fault in real time vs the little part of the play you see on a screen?

You sir, are a casual fan. You pick up so much more about a game by being there in person.

In a sense, you are both right. The question is how many folks love Aggie football so much they're willing to spend all day at the game. I think we have found that number is smaller than the 12th Man thought. I gave up my season tickets this year. Really price wasn't as much an issue as the time commitment required. They could almost give those tickets away and would still have empty seats.

400 bucks for nosebleeds? LOL.

I transitioned from diehard fan to casual fan after 2015. And I have a free place to stay in College Station and live an hour and a half away. My time is way too important these days, especially given the absolute clown show Sumlin turned Aggie football into.

Even Away games trips are more about long weekends to a new place than football. If the Ags win it's just a bonus.

There are plenty of fans who take over when people like me wise up and apply time and disposable income on other stuff. More power to them.

Hoping Jimbo can turn the ship around but I can watch the Aggies win or lose in the comfort of my own home win or lose and still have loads of time for other activities.

I'm a huge fan. One game a season is enough for me. I couldn't imagine having season tickets. I do triathlons, and I swear after the parking, the walking and all the BS, I am more tired after an Aggie game experience than after finishing a half iron man.

Then there's the outrageous expense and the jack asses.

This.

My 10yr old gets it - he even enjoys the ULM/Nichols St/SHSU games. For some people there's just something about being at Kyle. My boys (10 & 12) never bring up plays from road games we watch on TV - but even months later they will relive a play we saw in person. I wouldn't trade my seats for anything, I wish I could afford more tickets. It's an experience, this is grounds for a banning from TexAgs I'm sure - but we even enjoy the losses because we were able to share the game time together.

My now 15 year old son has been with me to every game at Kyle Field since he was 2 years old. I have only 3 more years before he's gone. Watching on TV isn't the same as heading to CS on friday afternoon with him, waking up to tailgate all day, watch the game and then talk about it on the way home on sunday.

I was not for the capacity the powers that be decided on. They built Kyle Field big enough for everyone who wants to go now and again. That didn't protect the value to the investors.

Also the design (basically 2 sets of bleachers up high in each end zone) isn't fan friendly.

Different strokes for different folks. I certainly understand not getting season tickets if you are only going to one or two games a year due to distance or orher reasons. What I respectfully disagree with is expecting to buy good seats and only pay ticket face and not participate any in the contribution cost on a prorated basis. Buyers have been able to do that the last few years and good for them. The market is what it is. If Jimbo is successful that will probably change the market. And I have heard the arguments for not participating in the contrib, just don't agree with them. I don't think it should be 100% participation prorated due to no tax deduct for 3rd party. But something like 75% is about right after taxes.

Failure to want to attend a game doesn't make one a casual fan. I often work on Sat. mornings. I also often have to attend other football games or other events. I also have responsibilities at church on Sunday, making evening games -- especially with my other Friday and Sat. activities, almost impossible to attend. Yet, I still have the same view at the poster you referenced with this comment on Saturdays I might be able to go to. Trust me: I'm NO casual fan. Of the Aggies, college football, or football in general. If you said that to people that know me well, they'd laugh out loud.

I would have to build my life during the fall around the Aggies football schedule if I were to attend games regularly and I can't or am unwilling to do that now. Perhaps you don't have that issue and attending is easy for you. But that doesn't make me casual and you whatever the opposite of casual is.

I haven't been to an Aggie game in person in years, and I'm a huge fan. It's just too damned time consuming to go in person. And the game experience changed so much during the Sumlin era with the huge screens, commercials everywhere, 5 second snippets of pop music, and scripted everything, that when I did go, it just didn't feel the same. Sadly watching on TV seems more like the Aggie experience I remember from my student days than going in person does.

I'd read this as you misunderstanding the post. You are giving reasons that you can't be there though you want to...he was talking about the poster that mentioned he likes to watch it on TV more so he doesn't go to all games.

When the hotel prices for one game meet/exceed the price of season tickets, it makes watching the game at home so much better!

Better "football watching experience"maybe. But "better Aggie experience"...no way! Nothing like packing everything up for the weekend, heading to CSTAT, meeting up with friends, tailgating, then sweating, swinging the towel, and walking away with no voice. Not comparable. Is it inconvenient at times? Yes. Is it stupid hot sometimes? Yup. But wouldn't trade it for anything..

If and when Jimbo starts winning at Kyle Field again, everyone on here will be *****ing about how expensive tickets are, and calling out Ags who sell extras to the highest bidder rather than "good Ags."

The apathy that had set in is due to Sumlin not being able to field a team in the last 4 years that could hold serve at Kyle Field. That takes a toll on folks. Including me and my family.... And we have season tickets and tailgate in Spence etc.

The last season we sold/gave away all but 3 games because the tailgating effort was too much for the return on investment for us.

However, it wasn't due to 65 inch tvs and cold beer in the fridge. As others have said, nothing replaces a fun day of tailgating with family and friends and seeing an A&M game live at Kyle Field.

And before I **** on Sumlin too much, there's no way anyone who watched UCLA or UT in 2016 from home had the same experience as those who were there.

But the gut punch of seeing mizzou, auburn, lsu, msu etc live year over year wore everyone out.

TL;DR.... Win and this isn't a discussion.

It's somewhat like airlines selling seats on airplanes. If there is inventory to sell that didn't sell at "rack rate" then the seller has the option of pricing it notionally at a discount until it sells. A season ticket commits the buyer to paying a fixed amount for a season up front. The other option is selling individual tickets directly or offering them on the secondary market. I'm going to guess that essentially the TMF is executing a strategy of maximizing revenue from the available inventory.

For folks that don't have a donation involved, it might be possible to use this approach to change seats, but it probably has some limitations such seats contiguous and might have some terms and conditions limitations (such as inability to sell via flash seats) if heavily discounted.

I caution against attempting to create a "key performance index" based on spend either directly or indirectly that distinguishes a "hardcore" and "casual" fan.

Here's my observation after reading this thread and observing things. I'm 61 years old and last missed a game at Kyle Field in the 1900's. I think the stadium rebuild was ill advised because there was no effort to create premium (read that good quality seating not necessarily club) seating. There are 10's of thousands of crappy seats up high and on benches in each end zone.

Second thought is younger people aren't going to games like the older folks. They're buying giant TV's and going to sports bars with their buds.

For me nothing beats the gameday experience live and in person. Been traveling 3+ hours to each home game for the last 24 seasons and hope to continue for at least 24 more !
