You poosies act like no one has ever beat Clemson before. They lost to 4-8 Syracuse last year and still made the playoff. The year before that they lost to 8-5 Pitt and then won a championship. Upsets happen all the time.

And we lost to Arkansas St in 2008, yes upsets happen all the time. However it's not the expected result lol. No one is saying we can't win, just looking at it realistically

Jimbo has lost his last 3 against Clemson, but I still think we have a shot

I'll put our chances at 20-80

No we won't and that's ok. They are years ahead of us. We don't match up well with them. They have most of the OL that helped win the natty from 2 years ago. That's a full 3 years of on field experience against A+ competition. That alone will be enough to win considering their depth at RB and WR. They are very deep at QB as well. Then you have that DL that has two guys that would have been picked in the 1st round if they would have declared. Clemson has years of top flight recruited depth. Not to mention a great coach who does well on the road.

Not good for the 2nd game into Jimbo's 1st year.

Don't care. Got Jimbo. Ship or bust for 2018

If you're intentionally trolling, bravo. Otherwise that is arguably the most ignorant football opinion of this off-season so far, and that is saying something.

I would rather lose to Clemson and finish better than the two examples you gave.

I don't expect wins, but I certainly anticipate close losses.

In fact I can't imagine a better start. I anticipate that after playing the top 2 teams in America this unit will learn they can go toe to toe with the best and they can hold their own. By years end they will be tough, united and they will know this new system better than a well loved porno mag.

I would not be surprised with an 8-ish win season next year. New coaches, new systems on both sides of the ball. Still pretty young, and not quite the level of talent and depth Jimbo is used to. I would not be mad an an 8 win season as long as we show clear improvement from start to finish of the season. That would be refreshing for once.

If Clemson blows us out, I will be disappointed but will understand. We better not be getting blown out in the second half of the season though.

Indeed! If we could just start strong (NO MORE ucla meltdowns) and finish strong September - November, I would feel we were on the right track. I think it's been more of a mental toughness instead of a physical one, aka KDS style...

As a Clemson fan, A&M can certainly beat Clemson. I don't have any doubt about it and I think every Clemson fan feels that way. The ball can take strange bounces sometimes.

I do like where the game falls on our schedule -- right between two creampuffs in Furman and Georgia Southern. A&M is the first big test for what we expect to be a very good Clemson team. We return a larger number of starters and backups.

One thing to watch is which QB will start for Clemson. Will it be Kelly Bryant who led us to the playoffs last year or Trevor Lawrence who has been incredibly impressive in practice and our spring game? A lot of people, including our Rivals site, think it may be Lawrence.

Anyway, Clemson fans have great memories of playing the Ags and at at least 1 week a year YOU ARE OUR SECOND FAVORITE TEAM! We cheer for you almost as hard as we do for our Tigers.

Prob more like one in thirty. Your sips would prob have a one in 500k or a million shot though. Your team really sucks, so does your conference.

I think Clemson does play A&M next year.

In addition I have lots of Aggie relatives and friends. I've been to College Station many times but only to 1 football game when Clemson played there.

According to ESPN FPI, they picked Clemson to win it all and with the exception of the NC game, we are going to be their toughest opponent.

I like the optimism. But I think you're not grasping the scale of the Jimbo Fisher Project. The best part is at least 1 or 2 years away. I'll be pretty happy just to get to 3-2 after week 5 this year.

I trust that Jimbo will be able to maximize the benefit to our players out of the Clemson & Bama matchups -- that's what'll help us reach where we want to be for 2019 and 2020. But said benefit would still come into play immediately, and might even help us reach 10 wins this year...

I think the primary impact of winning either of those big games would come via recruiting -- maybe tip a 5* or two into our camp that wouldn't've signed on even with strong results for the rest of the season. I mean, recruiting is so chaotic, dropping a mega-dose of hype on the program in September will almost certainly produce *some* improvement on NSD.

Is it impossible? No.

Is likely? Not at all.

But that's ok. Anyone actually EXPECTING us to beat Clemson in year one of Jimbo is just nuts

Clemson's schedule feels much more manageable this year. Last year was very tough.

We became the first team in college football history to beat 3 Top 15 teams before the end of September - at Louisville (Game Day was there), Auburn at home, at VT (Game Day game again.) Very hopeful Game Day is in College Station this September as well.

One football question I've had about the Ags after watching a bunch of games last year, including in person your game against Wake Forest is run defense.

Against Auburn, LSU and Miss State the Ags seemed to have problems stopping the run. How do you think the new coaching staff is going to change that? Were you missing guys to injuries or what?

No, we were just listening to music during practice and looking forward to a movie afterwards.

Point being, and I've said this for years, that the hardest route to defend is a come-back when the CB's back is turned.

Almost every CB will have his back turned at some point when you are running a vertical route in man coverage.

When the receiver stops and comes back, he will almost ALWAYS have a huge advantage on the defender.

It's time we start using this a bit more.

We have not recruited LBs and a couple of our better ones have had ongoing injury issues. Chavis experiment for 3 years proved that he can not run his schemes without five star talent that he had at LSU. We are much encouraged by having Mike Elko from Notre Dame as DC and some improved talent all over the backfield and LBs.

We were soft.

Our former coach didn't want to run the risk of injury to receivers and other skill positions in practices.

In short, we couldn't hold our punches after playing 2 below in practice.

I exaggerate, but not by much.
