They will win 10 games plus this year. Sumlin will do very well in the Pac-10.

He will always be at a significant talent gap vs USC & UCLA. As long as Stanford, Washington & Oregon have solid coaches, they will be more talented. So, that's ~ 1/2 of the conference that will year-in/out be more talented than his team. Then throw in that Utah has a better coach.
Arizona is finally getting an indoor practice facility, but that won't help cover their inherent recruiting disadvantages.
Sumlin's record says he'll do well against teams with similar to lesser talent & rarely beat those w/ more talent. So, 7-5, 8-4 will be the norm; much like his tenure at A&M.

8-4 will be celebrated in 'Zona. Especially when their rival is 0-12.
He tapered off considerably at the end of last year once teams got more film & the wear and tear of running caught up to him. He's far from a sure bet All Conference QB much less AA.Canyon99 said:
They've got an all conference and potential all American type QB in Khalil Tate. I would not be surprised to see them do well this year with 9+ wins.
You would absolutely hate Saban.TrillOBrien said:
Watching his post-practice press conference compared to Jimbo's makes me wonder how we put up with that slow, monotone voice for so many years

Browning & Herbert will certainly be in the All Conference mix. Whomever gets the UCLA gig will probably put up big numbers. USC will most likely have a good QB simply due to talent.
With this statement I assume you have not seen Sumlin interviews when he was trying to be Saban and only have smarty pants comments. Saban can do that winning multiple national championships, Sumlin cannot having never won a conference championshipDallasAg 94 said:You would absolutely hate Saban.TrillOBrien said:

Have you ever given interviews?
I like Fisher. He is very well scripted. Stays on script and has a box of answers he plugs into questions. He is very direct and maintains a very business/professional posture. He sets a very high expectation. How he handles interviews doesn't necessarily equate to Ws on the field.
I like Sumlin. Disappointed in his results at A&M. He lost many games he should have won... won several he likely shouldn't. Not unlike Fisher. His interview style is different. Sumlin tries to connect well with those interviewing him. He tries to be very personable and sets a modest expectation.
Will that equate to a difference in outcomes? I don't think you can project interview style into Ws.
Fisher seems to have a better sense for closing things out and going for the jugular... Sumlin seems to try to hold on and to not lose.

What I remember about the loud, vulgar "music" at practice: Sumlin said something along the lines that they have to play in chaos so they must practice in chaos. Evidently it worked! I saw a lot of chaotic play. And, the company line was this: "recruits love the music and players like it." Did it help players learn quicker, keep them loose and play better? If it did, I shudder to think of results without it. I hope that Coach Fisher will have no part of it. Re Sumlin: Good riddance!

Uhh he was in the 2017 all conference team behind two guys that will be drafted in the first round of this year's NFL draft. Also, please note that I said he had AA potential.
