So we do still use fax machines! Top facilities in the country and we're still relying on 19th century technology to accept commitments. Why can't they digitally sign the LOIs and email them? Is this some sort of NCAA policy?
Digital signs are a bit more complicated than that.
- have to record it before used, and verified.
- who is the verifying entity?
- who holds the verified e-sig?
- is it a applied / verified in an app?
- who makes the app?
Actually, there may be something out there that could work...if the NCAA would buy into it. In several Real Estate transactions of mine in Houston, we've used something called DOT LOOP to sign contracts, disclosures and loan apps.
You choose a sig in the app, then initial / sign where indicated. It is by invitation through e-mail and works well, IMO. The trouble is, the endorser need to have an email account, plus they would have to receive multiple e-mail offers, one from each school, so that they sign the LoI from the school they wish to attend.
Can you see anything that could go wrong with this?
