Yea I know it's almost 10 billion but surely the atletic dept only sees a fraction of that, im sure BMA has to put up some correct ? Im saying when did we transition from a "second tier" to this soon to be major powerhouse

Oil money. I work in oil and gas and it is completely saturated by Aggies. Oil is the currency of the world. All of these other schools can boast about better academics, football teams, yada yada but at the end of the day, our BMAs are old school and quiet about their money, yet they can buy whatever the hell they want.

Dude, it's a marker of the $$ the AD receives. They don't dip into those funds, unless earmarked for the AD...and then it's not part of the general Endowment anymore, because it's spent. A&M raited $750M a few years ago and is in a $4Billion campaign now.
The amount spent just on the stadium nd the football facilities are nearly 2 Orders of Magnitude above the coaches salary. It's like buying a $25,000 car or truck and arguing you can't afford TTL.

There won't be any people on the ag side wanting to touch it. Don't want any chance it gets redistributed to include the other public universities in the state.

I think the move to the SEC was the real game changer.

Football facilities aside, just look at the money we spend on buildings. Come to the campus every 25 years and the place is unrecognizable.

The way it was explained to me, we get 1/3, tu medical school gets 1/3, and tu gets the other 1/3. It is not as bad of an arrangement as it sounds, and you are correct in your thoughts that this bear should not be poked. The other state schools are extremely jealous and have been chomping at the bit to get a piece of the pie for years.
Athletic department revenue...... we are #1.
