You wouldn't understand even if I explained it. It's over your head. Just move on to another thread.

Maybe he thinks this guy - Israel Mukuamu - is coming with Jimbo since he decommitted from FSU a couple of days ago (11/29).
I don't really want that guy though. We shouldn't be trading elite recruits for average three stars. We need to do better than that if we want to be elite.
Maybe you're right; then again, fellow 3-Stars JFF and Ryan Swope said, "Hello!"

There's a team psychology in play when you go for elite recruits.

Former basketball legend Dean Smith/UNC was asked why he didn't win in the Elite 8 with all the elite talent on his team. After a long pause, he said I have to go and recruit some players that can't play basketball. .... In short, if there are only, or very large majority, elites on the team and no teammates (3 Stars) that have to work overly hard in practice just to play - the elites will not develop to their fullest potential, per Smith. I'm not a Psychologist and this reasoning by Smith makes sense (can't argue his on the court success).

HSFootallAg24, you may agree or disagree with the psychology, and Alabama may have experienced the same situation this year as Smiths NCAA Elite 8 Team of 86-87 loaded with McDonald's All-Americans and two "Mr. Basketball" players from their respective states, 32-4 Overall & 14-0 Conf.

Yet, A&M had numerous 3-Stars over the years that turned out to be awesome - one was the GOAT.

For me, I'll leave the eye for talent to Jimbo & company.

You need to remember, the person you are replying to was in middle school when both of those players were at A&M and has no clue what he's talking about. He's just a loud mouthed high schooler.

You clearly didn't bother to heed my advice, and instead, decided to kick over the hornet's nest. You could have just as easily ignored his comment (like you did mine) and moved on your way. Instead, you decided to engage because of your incessant need to "be right" and prove your debate skills. This won't end well for anyone.

Thankfully, we don't need to care who you want. I am going to say it again. I will be happy with whomever Jimbo recruits. And I am pretty sure that Jimbo doesn't care who you want either.

HTH.
I don't care what Jimbo wants. He's an idiot if he'd take the Bossier safety over Leon O'Neal (unless it's a package deal to get Terrace Marshall as well). Jimbo isn't infallible and it's amazing how much blind faith some of y'all are already putting into him.

HTH.

Blind faith? Guy averaged 10 wins a year and won a National Title. Thats not "blind faith", son.

And I certainly put more faith in his opinion about who would be a better player for his team than I do in your angsty opinion about some dude you obviously get a chubby over.

God, you're a mouthy kid.

This. I trust Jimbo a whole lot more than some kid when it comes to evaluating talent.
I trust the ratings services and the 33 coaching staffs that offered Leon O'Neal more than I trust Jimbo. He's probably right on most things, but O'Neal is better than the safety from Bossier City.
"I trust the ratings services....more than I trust Jimbo", he said.

I know those players, as they were really important to me. Mike was an idol of mine (along with Johnny). The issue is that statistically, a five star is more likely to be successful than a 4 star, and a 4 star more successful that a three star. Those are just the facts. Some guys slip through, but it isn't too likely that we get the one that does.

It's not fair to reduce me solely to "a loud mouthed high schooler" who doesn't know anything about football. I know what I'm talking about. I spend my free time doing research and watching film. My knowledge of the sport and especially recruiting is quite evident.

Look up a kid named Johnny football.

How many stars did he have?

Only Tamu offered him as a qb

Another for fun. Drew brees. Look him up. He's from Texas.

There's tons more but you bore me.

God, you're a mouthy kid.
You used to be cool. Did our latest season cause your BAS to flare?

There are many people who agree with me. Look at the offers and the rankings. Jimbo Fisher is a damn good coach, but he certainly isn't infallible.

Read the words that I write:

I don't give a **** what you or anyone else thinks about who we are pursuing or not. I never said Jimbo is infallible.

However, there are four active head coaches that have won a national championship in FBS Football. You, and probably most, if not all, of the "people" that are talking about Leon are not one of those coaches.

Kick rocks, youngster. We are tired of your whining and your pining for this Leon kid. Seriously, it's a bit disturbing.

Go eat some cookies and drink some milk. The adults are going to have a discussion now, sport.
I don't understand the need for all of the snarky remarks and ad hominem attacks. I'm quite tired of your condescending and arrogant tone.

I haven't whined once on this thread, although you certainly have. You are so triggered over the fact that I'd disagree with Lord and Savior Jimbo. I never claimed that you think he's infallible, but you're certainly acting that way. It's not good that you refuse to listen to what others have to say. There are many qualified people who prefer Leon.

O'Neal is ranked much higher, and his statistics/measurables are almost all better. Also, the other three National Championship coaches (Dabo Swinney, Urban Meyer, and Nick Saban) all offered Leon. It's pretty clear that he's good enough for the best. I trust Saban, Swinney, and Meyer over Jimbo.

You are ignoring the facts at this point if you'd rather have the Bossier safety. I've also watched film myself and know that Leon is clearly better.

You whine more than a 13 year old girl.

One more time for the youngster:

I never said I want ANY recruit over any other recruit. Go back and find where I said that.

What I said was I will trust Jimbo over your pretentious opinion. If he goes hard at Leon, GREAT!! If not, GREAT. Jimbo has been chosen to lead this team to foitball wins. And he, more than you, has the skins on the wall to do just that.

And Saban, Swinney, and Meyer aren't putting together an Aggie football team. Maybe Jimbo knows something about who he wants to bring in that no one else knows? Maybe Leon fits what thise other coaches want to do but not what Jimbo is looking for.

Jimbo is getting paid $7.5 MM to put together a championship team here. Let him do it, kid. Stop wasting your energy second guessing a decision that HASN'T EVEN BEEN MADE YET.

Jesus, sonny, go find a date for the evening. Or do some algebra. Just quit posting on this thread. You already look bad enough. I feel like I am piling on at this point, man.

You aren't schooling me. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Those are exceptions to the rule. There is a reason why we know these guys and not the names of the hundreds of 3 star QBs who didn't make it. Johnny had more than one offer, btw. He was committed to Oregon before flipping to us.

I've never claimed that stars are everything or even most of the equation. Statistically though, I am correct in saying that a higher rated player (star-wise) is more likely to succeed.

Elite coaches seem to agree with me that Leon is better, and so do his stats, measurables, and film. The rankings also reflect this as well.

You aren't anyone. Fisher hasn't even gotten to talk to Leon. You act as if he has passed him over. Just shhhhh.

You have potential, but you are a pretentious **** at the moment. Ffs, shut up
I don't understand this view point. I was talking football, and then a bunch of posters started ****ting on me because I don't trust every decision that Jimbo has made. I'd love to continue talking football, but people are too caught up in using personal attacks to do so.

Leon is better than what? You don't make any sense. Turn on Nickelodeon and quit while you're behind.

Yep.....like I've said before, he thinks he knows everything. Step away from the keyboard son.

Calling you pre puberty is not an insult. You clearly lack the mental faculties to know when it is time to shut your ****ing chicken tender food hole.
You clearly have that same issue then. Why should I shut my mouth? I'm actually talking football and no one wants to do the same apparently.
you jock sniffing a high school senior not talking football. I do not eat chicken tenders because I am a grown man. One day young might be too. But you will probably still eat chicken tenders because mommy made them for you.

I don't claim to be anyone though. I'm just some random kid who knows football and wants to have a discussion about it. I'd be happy to have a discussion specifically about the Bossier safety vs Leon O'Neal.

Luckily though, he's still open to A&M. Hopefully he chooses us again.

Actually, you are talking about your opinion about a player that you believe is better than some other player.

And that isn't the argument, not the one I am making. All I have said all night is that Jimbo's opinion matters and yours (or Saban's or Swinney's or Meyer's) doesn't when it comes to whether or not we pursue this kid.

Deal with it. Your opinion is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT in this case.

I don't think I know everything. I know enough about football (specifically recruiting) to have a knowledgeable discussion about this.
