Got tired of the all the fake news while following the Arkansas coaching hire, and thought I'd check in on how yours is going. Can someone give me the cliff notes update? You guys getting Fisher or not?

never a done deal til the ink hits the paper, but even my cynical self would put it at 99% chance he is. BoR meeting tomorrow I think officially formalizes the AD's permission to offer and then I think the official news comes out publicly Saturday after FSU's game

I think you guys need him to lose and for Auburn to jump back off the Gus Bus that they all just jumped back on.

On the bright side, the first would help make the second more likely.

If they pass on him, it costs them $40million. So unless they negotiate something with him, he's coaching the game.

I used to work for the athletic department. It was very clear from the beginning of the year, when the department cut everyone's budgets to bare minimum, that we were going to fire sumlin. Looking back now and hearing the rumors of Jimbo, I also believe that it was Woodward's intentions to go after a big name hire from the beginning. I still have connections in the athletic department and I have been told that we have been prepping for the arrival of Jimbo for over a week now. The meeting of the BOR tomorrow is just to make it "official".

Certainly hope you're correct. It would be the first time since Jackie Sherrill was hired that A&M hired one of the best in the business. Personally tired of hoping somebody has what it takes and we still pay them an exorbitant amount of money to be continually disappointed. With Jimbo we have a man that's young enough and knows what it takes to win at the highest level. Hire the man and give him the authority to do whatever he wants with any and all staff, etc. He's the head coach so let him do it his way. Never understood the concept of hiring a new coach and telling him who is going to stay from the previous regime. If they're good coaches they'll have a job in a matter of days anyway.

JMHO, but I believe all terms are agreed upon and it's done, but to follow procedure the BOR must now hold an official vote to approve. Nothing is left for Jimbo to be announced other than a formality. Again, just my gut.
