This is not my take. They like him as a person that is obvious - what's not to like... Clearly they are searching for something positive to say without obviously being disingenuous. No one would seem to be lamenting the decision. It's more like they know he wasn't getting it done and are ready for new leadership, but wish him well. I share that sentiment.queso1 said:
Yep. Why was he taking so many chances on guys that no one else would? Maybe that's why we lose to LSU every year.
I'd rather hear: I'm glad I turned down all the other coaches because you and your staff developed me into a great player and a better man.

The need to be liked is strong with Sumlin. This is done by making people dependent on you.
It's better to have them respect you... he could learn a thing or two from Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Shula etc...

I'd love examples of this as I haven't seen it. Even Johnny acted a fool at the beginning and end of his career here, but most of the middle, when he was really involved, he behaved. I can't think of anyone even accused of a criminal act who was kept with the team when there seemed to be some degree of proof; and we had enough critical suspensions to know he was holding immaturity accountable. He was definitely a "player coach", but that's a long way from "me first".Agvet12 said:
No offense but he he let the inmates run the prison. So of course the inmates love him. It's why we have talent but can't develop, and we don't have the killer instinct to get out. He created a me first culture.
When push comes to shove we bend over.

Speaking of delusional, does Trevor still think he is an NFL QB?
Where we would be right now had we not had Knight and Starkel would have started last year instead of being redshirted. Would this year have been any different if Starkel had a year of experience under his belt at the beginning of the season.Jonestown Trumpanzee said:
I appreciate Knight, and so should Sumlin. He gave us an okay season that would have been one of the worst in recent memory had he not been here. He gave Sumlin another year. However, our culture sucked and we needed to change it up. The carousel was needed at this point because the horse done got busted.
