I am *pretty* sure I know where you are talking about. And yea. That was a ****ing train wreck.
We face a short straight of road cornered by curves on both sides of the highway. Plus, a new truck stop less than a 1/4 mile upstream from us. Both The Hubs and I have been run into the bar ditch trying to turn right into our drive by 18 wheelers using the shoulder to get up to speed. They are going 50 by the time they reach our drive. Very dangerous spot to just decide to hang out for no reason.

(We have insisted people with car trouble move into our recessed drive to keep them out of harm's way before. Even used the tractor to winch them off of the shoulder.)

Yep. I am sure of it. And you're right, thats a hell of a spot. Geez. What a pain.

Should have gone panda on them

Have to confess, The Hubs said a short while ago that had he known, he would have jumped on the tractor with the grapple on it and turned the RV into a rag top.

Hubs shoulda turned a fire hose on those MFers!

We stay at Aggieland RV Park and I did a walk around tonight. No MS State RVs here so far as I can tell. I'm sure someone will spot them before the weekends over.

People focused on a problem can forget other people have problems too.
Which is fine, until they're reminded (as hawg did), after which, there's no excuse. It was stupid to park there in the first place, but refusing to move immediately, when asked to is inexcusable, boorish, and damnable!

But I don't consider it reflective upon msu. That's just people, sadly.

That's why I am more inclined to think they were Miss State alums who were from Dallas and not current Mississippi residents. Had a neighbor at our lake house who lived in Houston but was a Miss State alum. He was an a-hole at times, too. Elitist. Just a "city" versus "country" thing.

shoulda poured a few gallons of gas along your drive and told them it was time for your regularly scheduled controlled burn.

bar ditch
It's actually a borrow ditch, as in the dirt is borrowed from that location to put into the middle of the roadway, so as to "crown" the road so it sheds water into the borrow ditch and drains away from the road, for obvious reasons.

Now, Texans pronounce borrow "bar"; thus the spelling.

Not with 30 mph winds like we had yesterday. Unfortunately, we have already seen that movie.

You think had I used that terminology most posters here would understand to what I was referring??

I was just glad it wasn't full of water or I would have gotten stuck, most likely.

That **** shouldn't fly in Texas. We need to educate those dumb fat hicks on how we do it in the Lone Star State.

Had been discussing matters with my contractor at the ranch but had an appointment at 12:00 and was running late. As I am tearing down the ranch road to get to the highway (only mean of ingress and egress) I crest a slight rise and see not one but two of the big RVs at the end of the drive, blocking it.

I hit the horn thinking they were just stopped there, but nothing moves. As I get closer, I see a second car parked between the RVs and another car behind the second RV, all on the shoulder blocking the drive and the culvert on both sides for nearly two hundred feet.

I get up to the end of my driveway (total length of 1600 feet) and see two middle aged men decked out in Miss State gear. I roll down my window and ask, "Are you guys broken down? Need a tow truck?" They answer, "No."

So I ask, "Why are you parked in front of my driveway blocking it then?" They don't answer just said, "We'll be gone in a few minutes or so." I said, "I have an appointment and I'm running late." So one guy says, "Just drive through the bar ditch then, I'll direct you." "What? You want me to drive across a concrete culvert and down a bar ditch for a hundred feet and then try to get on a highway with no visibility from the right side?"

I guess he didn't hear me because he was in front of my SUV and waving at me impatiently to move. Looked at my watch, releaized how late I was and gingerly navigated between the culvert and the vehicles. The guy waved me to pull out between the RVs which would have meant I would have been pulling out onto the highway blind on both left and right. (What kind of an idiot would do that? Direct someone to get onto a highway blind?)

Instead, I slowly crawl down further down the bar ditch to get past the whole lot of them so I could have some visibility in both directions. As I am waiting for the traffic to clear, I see The Hubs' one ton come barreling down the drive, so I knew he would take care of whatever problem they thought they had.

A few hours later I got back home and had a chance to ask The Hubs what the deal was. he told me it was two RVs, each towing a car but the first one had the tow bar improperly attached and tore the front end of the car off. The RV and car were both operable and now not attached, meaning the RV could drive 16 feet further and not block the drive, yet they refused to do so. (Fortunately for them, The Hubs had no idea they had refused to move for me and he was frankly a little torqued at me for driving through the bar ditch until I told him why.)

One last thing. Guess how long they had the driveway blocked by four operable vehicles? About an hour.

Miss State Bulldog jerks!!!

Rant over/
A call to the county sheriff should have been made immediately.
