Tyrel Dodson - I like this dude. Seems like a really good guy. I'm hoping he becomes an absolute star.
Myles Jones - I had no idea during the game who he was. Everyone in the stands was asking who is #10? He showed a lot of promise.
Kellen Mond - Sumlin has shown no hesitancy to throw his QBs under the bus. But Kellen seemed to stay composed and not get too down in the second half, especially has a true freshmen. He is very raw, but very talented.
Jarrett Johnson - showed some speed off the edge. Really was a game changer on defense getting pressure on Rosen which led to turnovers.

Special teams - especially #7 Buddy Johnson
Offensive line - excellent blocking in the first half, with no major penalties

I agree it wasn't a great game for Mond but I'm not ready to say he shouldn't play this year. If we decide to move forward with him (vs Hubes), he'll be taking all the reps with the ones, build better chemistry with the WRs, and we can tailor the offense to his strengths. Next two weeks will create some confidence, two wins against USC and Arky will create even more. I know this guy is raw but I think he'll adjust quickly.

That UCLA QB was pretty bad a$$.

for 75% of the game everyone was great. I didn't see many if any holes. In the 4th though everyone that was making plays prior was whiffing.

Through 3 quarters I saw more players on defense flying to the football, making one on one open field tackles than I have in a long long time.

Through 3 quarters I saw more OL, WRs, RBs getting their blocks making room and giving the QBs time to read the play than we had in a long time.

Then in whiff all of that went away. We looked like a Gary Darnell defense and dennis franchione offense. it was amazing the complete 180. Inexplicable almost.

Good to see Dodson, Jones, and Oliver play well in the 1st half. Pryor too.

od those I haven't seen mention yet, Alaka quietly had a great game.

I liked the shorts throws from Mond. He hit this guys in the hands repeatedly and they just wouldn't haul it in. That 15yard pass to kirk in the 4th looked great. With a little more protection from the tackles and I think he could have a decent freshman year.

I think Starkle has a chance. Obviously the running backs. The o-line but I'm not sold that Ucla is any good in their defensive front.

Chosen Rosen impressed me. Unfortunately, he plays for UCLA.

At least 20 freshmen (high school or red shirt) saw action Sunday. In some ways that's good, but it also shows how little depth we have with experience.

Recall suggests the best were Myles Jones, Ryan McCollum, Justin Madubuike and Jayden Peevy. Others had some good moments but also some bad. One or two just looked lost.
