I don't find any of these "good coach" arguments persuasive. We need to completely change our thinking. Go full money ball. Find a no name coach that would give anything just for the opportunity. Give him a couple hundred K, pay bonus for each win. Completely change the compensation model. There are different aspects to coaching too. Recruiting, managing the organization, game theory and strategy. There may be a great strategist but he has no experience with the day to day business decisions, being a kind of CEO. Ok, well get good assistants to delegate that kind of stuff too. We have nothing to lose, this is an opportunity to try some interesting experimentation.
