If he was able to defend a 4th down wheel route against Auburn on their final scoring drive we probably play in a better bowl game that year. Auburn game seemed to be a turning point that year. Johnny's first injury and the teams 2nd loss deflated the team a bit.

Askew wasnt a defensive player until his senior year... our staff should have switched him sooner, but you cant really call him a let down/one hit wonder based on the final play of his final game.

Corey Pullig, 1992-1995. Started as quarterback midway through his fish year, then started every game for the next 3 seasons, including a 19-1 record on Kyle Field. Other than that, not much.

Robert Ferguson.

Rumored that he never attended a class.
Hands down the best answer in my opinion and that is not a rumor on the latter portion. He was in my Chemistry class, never attended past the first week. I played against him in high school, had some mutual friends and the word was he knew he was headed to the NFL, so he mailed in the school part and mail it in he did.

He sat next to me for my Accounting 201 final. When I got up to turn my test in, he quietly asked me which test form I had. When I said "A" (there were two versions of the test) he got up, threw his test under the seat in front of him, and walked out with me. I knew then he was leaving early for the draft.

Ken Hall, The Sugarland Express gets a mention because of his high school career. He never played a down at Texas A&M not wanting to go to Junction City with coach Bear Bryant

Remember when Ags Illustrated used to follow the recruitment of a big time recruit, typically a quarterback (i.e. Vance Smith). Those guys were always a bust and I can't remember any of them actually seeing the field.

How 'bout that Freeman kid who played a nice game at QB once....once...and was not heard from again?
Let's go Brandon!

Jeff Granger QB'd the Ags to a win in Baton Rouge in 1992.

looking back 25 years...that was a big win. Only 1 of 2 aggie wins in Death Valley in the past 41 years

Chris Osgood?

Came in for an injured Bucky Richardson in the '88 game in Austin vs. the sips. He didn't do anything spectacular, but he protected a lead and we won the game.
Osgood was qb in the loss to OK State in Stillwater. We had about 500 yards of offense and about 10 turnovers that night, for which we paid dearly. Darren Lewis I think actually outrushed Barry Sanders in that game. Really bizarre game.

I read the title and thought none of these kids will know Jerry Honore. I was fired up and you were way ahead of me. This is the real winner for a one game wonder.

In terms of players who had one good year that I haven't seen mentioned

Jonathan Stewart & Steven Terrell in 2012
Travis Labhart & Derel Walker in 2013
Brandon Williams & DeVante Harris in 2015

Lmao you just named guys who were ALL seniors. You can't be a one hit wonder as a senior. That's called progression over your time in Aggieland. They literally don't have the ability to follow up those senior performances. You gave good examples of guys who got progressively better over their time here and who all produced well as seniors.

Bud. They were all garbage/nonexistent before their senior year. They had one good year.

you know...a rather obvious one: Michael Bennett.

he had a one-play career at A&M...the head shot on Colt in the 2006 game.

I don't remember another play from his career

Basil Jackson. Made the "stop" on Bo Jackson. For as famous as that play is in Aggie lore, you'd think more people would know his name.

Agreed! He had a bright future and he was a very good receiver. He made an incredible catch at Kyle field with one hand, SMH.
