Too bad. I like 247, because you don't have to watch what you say and can actually speak your mind. Also, was honest about recruiting instead of feeding subscribers loads of crap they wanted to hear

This. And it's unfortunately amazing how A&M blames its own fans and freaking recruiting website people for their football shortcomings rather than holding coaches accountable.
Be it RC telling everyone to stop complaining, Byrne complaining about not selling out games, Fran and MicMac's shenanigans, Sherman's militants group of he gets A&M defenders, and now this.

Don't get me wrong, I like many people on this website, or people that follow college football in general, very much enjoy recruiting updates and stories. But in the grand scheme of things, it's certainly not a job that warrants the overwhelming superiority complex and big-headedness that he chose to conduct his craft with
So true, yet, almost all of them in the business act this way.

Nobody has said Taylor Hamm is the only bad thing to ever happen to the program. But he was bad for the program.

Like Hamm was actually going to influence the administration and the decisions they made about the program. He did nothing but hold a dark cloud of negativity over the program and deter recruits from wanting to attend our school.

Fellow Ag with a wife & 2 kids, who was very passionate about his work just lost his job. And some are celebrating, simply because you didn't agree with his outspoken style. Extremely petty and insecure. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if someone in the A&M hierarchy had something to do with this, as they didn't like that he didn't just blow sunshine up everyone's asses and wasn't a mouthpiece for the AD. Same small man mentality is why we haven't won **** in 78 years.

Funny you should mention small man mentality, because that more than anything is probably why Hamm was fired. Overly aggressive tactics, hyper sensitive reactions when someone tells him he's wrong about something (and he was wrong and defensive quite often), ******y to his competitors, ******y to the fan base, ******y to recruits. I don't root for people to fail, but I don't root for people to succeed when they operate in the manner that he did and when it comes around and bites them I don't have much sympathy. The meal you eat is made with the ingredients you supply, and he just ate a **** sandwich.

If you believe this, you're part of the problem.

A recruiting analyst is so far down the line on what is or is not good for a program.

Looch and TexAgs are not a huge positive for the program. Hamm and 247 are not a negative for the program.

WINNING is good for the program. Period.

Loss of press pass for t.h. was the beginning of the end for that guy.

Unfortunate reality of that job- better not bite the hand that feeds you.

I honestly think it is because in the beginning they provide desired information, and people express gratitude for it, and it makes them think they are better and more accomplished at what they do than they really are. Add a few years, delusions of grandeur begin to develop, and narcissism starts to develop. Combine that with the idiocy of sycophancy of some fans who don't want to ever admit you're wrong because they need to justify sending you $9.95 a month, and you have a 'leader' who begins to believe he matters in some way.

Basically, some people don't possess the humility to handle the small amount of attention they receive when running a recruiting website, and it can go to their head. Add in the fact that some of these guys get interviewed by other small media sites/radio stations, and they begin to believe they're minor celebrities and buy into their own hype.

Do you people really think these beat writers impact the program?
They can when they have direct contact with recruits with no accountability as to what they say to em. Guy was like the Maroon Ketch. Thought more of himself than was necessary. And just tried too hard to be relevant like Chimp Brownstain.

When you are winning at a certain level, not much of anything can negatively affect a program. When expectations are not being met, that's when all the little things start to piss people off.

Don't like seeing anyone lose their job, especially with little ones. That said, he was pretty rude to posters on so many occasions. Treated people like ***** Cocky lilttle *******.
However, I wish him well. Hope he finds something better.

Hamm absolutely was a negative for the program. A recruit told OU that part of the reason he signed with OU and not us was because of Hamm.

The rest of your post has nothing to do with anything I have said.

If I recruiting spare is the reason a recruit didn't come to A&M, he really never was going to come in the first place. And would you even want that kid in the first place?

He was giving an honest opinion, nothing wrong that. Pretty sad that the AD isn't accountable and has thin skin which made the feel like they had to pull his press credential.

You know - it is possible that folks are upset about our program right now and can still think that Hamm was a jerk.

Everyone that though he acted like a petulant child isn't implicitly excusing our coaches or somehow blaming him for our failures.

Pretty sure he had his press credentials revoked for contacting recruits while they were on campus when he and every recruiting site was explicitly told not to do that. Not sure if it was the same event that Steven Parker attended where Hamm followed him into the bathroom, but that's what I seem to recall.

After that he constantly released information about scrimmages and practices that other credentialed sites were told not to release information from, got into fights on Twitter and was a general jerk about things.

Guy was given guidelines that he needed to follow to continue being credentialed, none of which revolved around his opinion of the program, but when and how he could report or interact with the program. He broke those guidelines, lost his credentials, and ultimately got fire over that among many other shenanigans.

Regardless of Hamm, I'd never support numbers site after seeing what is allowed to be posted by members. Who wants high school kids to read numerous X-rated homosexual insults CONSTANTLY lobbed at those who still supported the athletic program, followed by a clan of doofuses high-fiving each other after said commentary. Is that what you mean by allowing you to express your opinion, GoodOldAgs? If so your opinion has no value on what's good or not good for a program. Forget blackballing TH, the whole darn website should be cut off, and perhaps then we could read Tarp and Peroni takes on a better platform.

I'll never forget during the early mention of our potential move to the SEC, Finebaum had him in his radio show. I believe it was 2010 before there was momentum and only whispers. Paul was pretty much interrogating him and calling his bluff on his prediction we were leaving Big 12. Turns out Hamm was right but he was god awful in the interview.

Huh, who was the recruit?

It was probably Steven Parker a top safety out of Oklahoma. He had just finished up a great visit to A&M and Hamm stalked him in the men's room to get an interview about his visit.
