It showed the 2003 game for some reason, but the bonfire game is on

One of my proudest moments as an Ag.

I still can't walk on the memorial site without shedding a tear.

They just showed the Aggie Band halftime performance and that made me choke up, what an emotional situation! This is the one game I wish I would have been in state for.

I'm trying to remember how Chrissy came out of the game.

TOOOMBS! I turned this on earlier not remembering the 2003 game but assuming it was significant somehow since it was on. When I started recognizing players I was confused, and then they mentioned a 245lb FB and 265 RB in the same backfield. Brian Gamble, Rocky Bernard, and the rest of that D played tough! I miss those days so much!

I don't think the Ags completed a pass in the 2nd and 3rd quarters

I assume players go into the locker room and are insulated, but does anyone know any players from that time that might have been aware of the halftime performance and been been inspired from that situation?

RC Classic game: strong defense, offense good.enough to move the ball to at least the 50, great punt coverage team to down the ball inside the 10, great defense to cause 3 and out, good punt return team to.move.ball inside the 50, maybe score if not punt and repeat

Wish I had known this was on, hopefully someone DVRs it and uploads it somewhere.

I've never seen this game, only the highlights.

Nothing compares to actually being at the game. Simply amazing the emotion was through the roof.

Mack Brown with no gray hair is a sight. Like seeing a president on election night. If only he understood the pressure of the LHN then hah

How come announcers don't say Applewhite is not healthy when he makes a completion?

The look on Gamble's face after that recovery says it all.

I still get choked up when Brooks forces the fumble that Gamble recovers to solidify the Aggie win. We just really needed that win on that historic day in 1999.

May the 12 Aggies who lost their lives on Bonfire that year rest in peace and may the memory of their lives never be forgotten

My memory is a little fuzzy... I was at this game.

I remember either before the first half or second half started that they had a moment of silence. While the entire stadium fell silent, then Longhorns came out of the locker room shouting "Longhorn Power! Longhorn Power!" which subsided after about 15 seconds or so.

In their defense they were in the locker room and had no idea they were running out onto the field during a moment of silence.

The game tonight showed a moment of silence during the halftime drill and I was listening for this. I couldn't hear the chants of "Longhorn Power" but it did seem like there was some yelling just after the moment of silence began. Sounded like people yelling at others to shut up.

Anyone else remember that?

Pretty sure Youtube has had this game in its entirety for a long time.

I'll see if I can link it.

Edit: No luck finding it... Either it was deleted or I am mistaken that it was there.

And some of y'all wonder where the term "potbanger" originated from......

That game is still to me the most gratifying Aggie win ever. Including Bama. Including ANY of them.

I hate the prevent offense...

Hard to argue the 99 tu game being the most gratifying win...

The Big XII championship game comes close though.

My memory is that was a group of longhorn students near the South endzone who stopped after people around them asked them to. I was 2nd deck around the South 40 and could hear it.

The game was insane - and yeah, I remember the sip players coming out and chanting/yelling. Excuse or no, it pissed us off to no end.

Here's a few photos that I posted in the Old Rivalries thread of the game...

My shirt was wet from all my tears during that game. I still can't watch that halftime performance and give props to the sips for the respect they showed. I couldn't stop dropping the tears. It was surreal.

I recall the longhorn football team was coming out of the tunnel hollering when Mack Brown turned around and asked them to shut up.

Who wouldn't. I remember sitting up in the third deck and the reaction were something I'll never forget. Then watching the game on tv and seeing the players faces.

I remember the Longhorn Band playing Amazing Grace, lowering their banners, raising an A&M banner, and silently walking off the field. It was so quiet, you could literally hear the flags popping in the wind in the stadium. I have always given that hated band my respect, since that day.
