It was a joke, smarty pants. You always so pissy?

I'll be sure next time find the flower cap without the bevel as to not offend your sensibilities?

AO had a ton in the fall with no bevel. Adidas branded and all.

If we're really all about "one brand" why do we still use the traditional logo on the helmet, which is arguably the most seen logo of Texas A&M? Meanwhile, right there in the middle if the same field sits a beveled version.

The new seal is incredibly hideous and embarrassing. It looks as if someone spent 30 seconds copying and pasting a stupid beveled t-shirt logo into our historic University Seal that dates back to 1947. On the new seal the "weight" is wrong as the thick aTm logo doesn't match the thinner detail of the outer rings. It also seems redundant to have T A and M in the center of the seal and Texas A&M University on the outside. Is that really necessary? I am surprised that no one in power has taken a closer look at how the new seal represents Texas A&M University and the Texas A&M University System.

At least the students convinced President Young to keep the old seal on the diplomas so that they wouldn't have to display that crap on their degree that represents 4 or 5 years of hard work and dedication. SO NOW WE HAVE TWO SEALS - the new one is used on all current communications (websites, letterhead, etc.) and the old one for diplomas. Also, around campus representations of the old seal (inside the Academic Building, on parking garages, etc.) will not be changed.

University Seal - November 3, 2015 post by The Real Stuff

November 3, 2015

During my first semester here at Texas A&M, I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet countless students and various student groups from across campus. I continue to be deeply impressed with the vibrant passion you have for our school, a passion and commitment that is simply unparalleled at any other university in the country.

Numerous discussions have taken place between myself and student leaders, as well as with you individually, on various issues, but one that has repeated itself many times in these conversations is that of the symbol that would be on your diploma from Texas A&M. The passion I reference above clearly manifested itself in an apparent desire to have the former, historic seal represented on your degrees.

Based on the information your student government leaders have provided, and in direct talks with Student Body President Joseph Benigno and other student leaders, I have respectfully forwarded to the Chancellor and the Board of the Texas A&M System for consideration that future diplomas from Texas A&M still carry the former seal, or what I have called the graduation seal. I am told that the issue will be placed on the next agenda in November, and will be placed on the consent agenda. Consent agenda items, unless removed, pass without debate.

While the new University seal will still be used in conjunction with the Office of the President and on official communications, the request to the system would allow for an exception to be made for diplomas. This small exception would still allow us to follow our one brand approach, yet grant all of you the seal you seem strongly to prefer on your diplomas.

I am grateful for the chance I have had to learn from you the importance of this issue and I am grateful to our great Chancellor and Board for their willingness to consider this request.

Sincerely,
Michael K. Young
President
Texas A&M University

So, let me get this straight. President Putz...err Young, who has absolutely no ties to this university except the big paycheck he gets, is ok with the old logo on the most important piece of paper any Aggie can receive here, but is more interested in a national brand that he prefers on his own letterhead and official communications? And the brand wasn't even designed by an Aggie (if I have read information about Cook correctly)? I hope our notorious Chancellor has the gonads to return to the original seal for ALL correspondence. However, I have little faith that he'll do that.

Yes, that's why so many on TexAgs loved him. He was seemingly the only "inside" source TA had to the Athletic Department.

Actually it is the job of the head of marketing to make everyone feel good about the product they are buying/supporting. That is part of the brand he was supposed to be creating.

When football rankings were put out, even back in the 1950's, and we were listed as the "Texas Aggies" everybody knew who we were.

This one should get more stars. Marketing can do only so much. The product has to be good. Worrying about how our end zones are perceived nationally as it relates to our brand is fluff. That wouldn't move the needle on anything.

Well, when ESPN and/or others start using Miami Hurricanes and Miami RedHawks in their rankings, I'll believe "Texas Aggies" is going somewhere as a brand name.

So, was there a drop in officially-licensed merchandise sales among Aggies firing Cook's tenure?

Hint: there wasn't.

Just because Cook wasn't tickling your fancy doesn't mean he wasn't doing his job.

If you don't want to spend money on A&M merchandise, then don't; it's your prerogative. To each their own sense of style, and yours is obviously more discriminating than most. So, yeah, we get it, you're a d***e. Respectfully, sir.

Since we now approach important issues in the offseason, has anything happened lately about getting rid of the %#$% bevel? The muppets for signing day in Waco made me think of Jason Cook, so here is the bump.
