What would it take for us to have more influence over the decision makers?

Someone could cut off a horse head and stick it in Bayside's buddy's bed.

Short of that though, not much.

I preferred to be referred to as a glorified bandaid. But you can call me chief now.

Well, this forum was about 95% AGAINST those HORRIBLE statues. They are still there and probably forever.

The huge loyal fan base ALWAYS supports A&M Football. It is the brain washing or spirit (pick one). The team could be 1-11 and there would still be parties in the Suites. And I have been to the new Suites. They are written off taxes as entertainment. The suite people's opinion matters but they know Aggies never Boooo and they faithfully fill most the huge stadium. They always remember 1939 and Johnny Football. It might happen again. So they enjoy their big suites and get to act like BIG Shots. The team generally is pathetic but THEY get to blubber about (here it comes) getting a new coach.

If A&M goes 1-11 then a new coach is brought in and the process repeats. Since the thinking that a new coach will bring success, the masses (fools) are calmed and begin to be optimistic. Repeat, Repeat, Repeat....

Yes, A&M has the money, the facilities, the location, the conference, the fan base BUT THEY HAVE NO INTELLIGENT LEADERSHIP. (There is NO INCENTIVE to change anything.) An exaggeration to make a point: Offer Saban $10M yearly salary with a clause that awards him $100M for a Championship and you will see one QUICKLY.

See, it is JUST a matter of what it is worth. A&M leadership believes A&M is EXACTLY where it needs to be. Everyone should just face it, we are just like Purdue, Vanderbilt, (insert any middle of the road Program). The only difference is A&M fan base has SPIRIT. I would have thought the futile nature of our football efforts would have ruined that by now. (That Spirit was BASED on A&M being the perpetual UNDERDOG so basically we are still at that point after 100 years.) Other loser programs fan base find other interests, Pro Teams, Little League, etc.

Bama wants National Championships in FOOTBALL and that is what they get. SIMPLE.

It basically depends on leadership. If you have someone in there like Loftin who is receptive to input from the public then we have more influence.

Since Sharp has come in, he hasn't shown that reception. At least not as far as Loftin took it. So like many other things in life, your/our input is only valuable when those who run the show are willing to listen.

As far as recruits go.. Texags is not much different than most other fan boards if you travel out into the inter-webs and explore other teams' forums. When we're winning the pumpers are out in droves, when we're losing.. here come the pot-bangers.

The only way I see recruiting being adversely affected by Texags is if we're going head to head with teams that don't have as open of an online platform for fans to voice their opinions. In that case if both teams (us and whoever) are having a bad season then our voice will be heard while the smaller team's wouldn't. This could cause the perception that we are more negative than said other team when it's likely very similar. And that works vice versa if we're both doing well.

TL;DR Become a regent or chancellor if you want to run the show.

I have some insight of the inner workings of decision makers and will tell you that they know what's being said on these boards and public opinion does matter to them more than you might want to believe.

Posters who manage to post grammatically correct thoughts hold a reasonable amount of sway.

If only there was some sort of coop where the average Ag could contribute to support athletics and their collective contributions would be greater than any one individual. Some sort of foundation to represent the 12th Man and have leadership that would be held accountable to it's donors. But it would have to be set up where the directors were accountable to the individuals and reflect the collective as a whole or be removed.

That would be awesome!

Yea, Micah97 has some grammar issues but good at BS.

Since recruits were mentioned, I will say that topic is easy to understand. I was recruited(a long, long time ago) out of High School. (For track but Head Football Coaches were also involved.)

99% of TOP recruits want to go where they will WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS, be seen and be discussed. (Average recruits settle for who asks them. Have you ever seen a reunion of past 5th place conference finishers. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Do past Bama players wear there BIG Rings. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

So Bama has first choice of most all recruits. Always. Bama's QB is from Texas. Recruits at A&M are there because they saw Manziel's amazing Media coverage. They wanted in on that. Well, that has worn off now and Sumlin will see the decline in recruits. Sumlin is not a recruiter, MANZIEL was the recruiting influence. Sumlin is not a winner. Just a gum chewer. He never even gets involved in the game. WATCH SABAN. But as we are discussing, it does not matter who the coach is unless he has the mindset of a Saban and an entirely different culture change at the top.
