Good to have some positive news around here.
Texas A&M Football Recruiting
“He really loves his players and is really going to be there for them. Coach Chavis is a true believer, and that’s what I love about him. He always stays true and will let you know the whole nine.
"He’s always making sure I’m doing good, and that’s the great thing. I’d love for my DC to be my position coach, so that just put the icing on the cake, baby.”
Kimball linebacker Devodrick Johnson re-commits to Texas A&M
Devodrick Johnson has had a lot on his mind. He planned to
make his college decision around Kimball High School’s homecoming
weekend, and it was not a choice he took lightly.
He put much thought and consideration into his decision, and when the time arrived he knew he was ready.
“I’m
committing to Texas A&M University,” Johnson said. “I knew this
would be my decision when I went down on an unofficial one day.
Everything just felt so right.”
When Johnson
de-committed from Texas A&M in August, he wanted to make sure he was
making the right decision. Since then he has taken a few trips – both
official and unofficial visits – talked to college coaches
and compared his choices.
When he thought of Texas A&M, one aspect of the program kept jumping out at him.
“The
family atmosphere. There’s nothing like Texas A&M University,”
Johnson said. “You would think when I de-committed from Texas A&M
they would have held a grudge or been a little mad, but they never lost
faith and knew I would be back and never gave up on me. Got to love it.”
Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis also played a big role in his decision.

“Coach
Chavis. This man is really an inspiring man. It’s always great
to be around him,” Johnson said.
Johnson has also
liked the product the Aggies have put on the field in 2016. He has had a
chance to see Texas A&M in action against UCLA, Arkansas, and
Tennessee, and the defense impressed him.
“It’s just
the energy the defense has,” Johnson said. “The defense never gives up.
And they stay turnt and ready to rock and roll.”
Johnson
is the 22nd member of the Aggies’ 2017 recruiting class, and he is the
second linebacker in the class, joining IMG's Santino Marchiol. With his
college decision made, he is looking forward to his future in College
Station.
“Just being on campus,” Johnson said.
“Growing to be a young man and getting developed as an athlete and
working on getting my degree and pursuing my dreams.”
