Absolutely right. It's the power of depth. But you can't get there until you have the players to do it.
I feel like we are closer to Alabama than we have been since joining the Big 12, even including the year we won. But they still have an advantage at probably 7 to 9 of 11 position on the field at any given time.

Lets begin with the fact that BAMA's grown man linebackers look like defensive lineman for other schools.
Lets add that THIS is what happens when you don't play 5* recruits until they are juniors. They eat, lift, and watch film for 2 years, and the willingness to put in the EXTRA work watching more film helps them WIN a spot in the starting lineup when they are Juniors.
The PROCESS has many facets. This is one of them.
Nick is the King for a reason.
Process
This was an issue last year as well. I believe during the Arkansas game last year, the announcers were commenting on knowing the type of play by how one of our lineman was standing. I believe it was Gennesy that time as well. After the comments, I noticed it was a big "tell". Still seems to be a problem.kentky said:
It's very concerning that the defense knows pass or run every play just by watching the OL stance.
And we will be taking a major step back next year when we lose the bulk of our senior leadership on defense. Hall, Garrett, Evans, Watts, Washington and a few others. If we were going to beat 'Bama, this was the year.Quote:agreed. we're close, but still far...Quote:

Wow! Bama was really bad back then. I didn't know we were that low during RC's years...Bluecat_Aggie94 said:

especially since the QB doesnt know until he reads the defense.kentky said:

Those weren't run-pass options.
Same problem, different year.Quote:

It doesn't matter if he or is not regurgitating anything...coached or not, he's tipping the play or he's not.Quote:
That player is doing nothing other than regurgitating what his coach told him which is ultimately a maneuver to instill confidence between player and coach.
What? Twice as many relative to what? They gave up 114 rushing yards on 38 carries, for a 3.0 average and we never ran for a score.Quote:
That game was closer than Alabama wants to admit, and they gave up close to twice as many rushing yards to three freshman and a couple of JUCO transfers.

(For the record, they ran for 287 on 57 carries for a 5.0 average.)

They afraid to play Kent State again too who ran 2.7 yards/carry?Quote:
Their average rush defense was about 60 yards.
Ask them what? If they tipped plays, too?Quote:
Ask the 2012 line.
The premise is erroneous.

Posted this on the other thread.
I mapped out the first 21 plays of the game. From what I can tell he had is leg back when we had no running back in the backfield or in obvious passing situations (3rd and 14 and 2nd and 10). There were many times his leg was up and we threw the ball. On some of these plays the defensive end took one step and then stopped as if playing run. It's hard to tell if some of these were RPOs. All in all his leg being back is as much a tell of a pass as it being 3rd and 14.
1 Leg is back. No RB. Obvious pass or QB draw.
2 Leg is up. RPO
3 Leg is up, pass play where we don't even run block
4 Leg is back, no RB.
5 Leg is up, sweep
6 Leg is back (3rd and 14) pass play
7 Leg is up run
8 Leg is up run
9 Leg is up run
10 Leg is up run
11 Leg is back (2nd and 15) pass play
12 Leg is up run (3rd and 2)
Second Quarter Harder to tell
13 Leg appears to be up play action pass on this play the DL doesn't get a good push and appears to be playing run so they may be mis-reading the tell
14 Leg is up run play
15 Leg is up bubble screen possible RPO
16 Leg is back (2nd and 10) pass play
17 Leg is up run play
18 Leg is up play action pass
19 Leg is up RPO
20 Leg is up play action pass
21 Leg is up play action pass, possible RPO
