Wow. That may not be shady. But DAMN THAT Looks horrible. Blatantly bad mechanics.


It was definitely shady. Huge spot for the first down when I believe it should have been fourth. It was a very tight game and this was in the fourth quarter if I remember correctly. Maybe in 2012 or 2013?

I don't remember the play. I am going off what it loos like & reasons why he may be doing things that way.
Looking back over his left shoulder makes me think 1 of 3 things is going on. 1. He thought line to gain was reached & another official was giving next down, not killing clock. 2. There are conflicting signals being given by other officials on field. 3. He is crooked.

The way he spots it makes me think he is mirroring another official who moved what spot appeared to be.

But it looks horrible. No doubt


No way it can be anything other than number 3. He IS the spot. It's on his sideline. There is absolutely no way he can be mirroring anyone else. He explicitly looked for the first down marker and moved the spot to gain the 1st down. That's disgusting officiating.

This was one of the strangest plays I have ever seen in the nfl. Player forgets which side he is on. Later discovered he might have been playing with a concussion.
