Here's the top 10 from LAST year and how they (finished):

1. Ohio State (4)
2. TCU (7)
3. Bama (1)
4. Baylor (13)
5. Michigan State (6)
6. Auburn (NR)
7. Oregon (19)
8. USC (NR)
9. Georgia (NR)
10. Florida St (14)

As you can see, half were outside the top 10, a third were unranked, only one was within 1 of their pick and everyone in the preseason top 10 faired worse except for one team -- the one that won it. I don't know for sure, but I believe last year had a higher level of accuracy than prior years.

Polls, especially preseason ones, are made to sell magazines, or in this age, get clicks. Discuss them if you want, but please don't take them seriously. I'd bet we could get a group of TexAgs college football gurus -- guys that pay a LOT of attention to teams all over the country -- and get a more accurate preseason poll year in and year out.

Bamers I know are unhappy they're ranked this low. They think they deserve better.

Tennessee and Washington ranked way too high.
