Try this one out...

The Board relents and retains Briles as head coach. Most of the Baylor recruits return to the fold. Bears have another great season, the fans fill the stadium for every game....and then another couple of football rapes occur.

Then what?

Briles and Baylor just settled. I'm afraid this is going away without any real consequences.

Worst case for them is pretty much what's happening.

Any parent with a sense wouldn't send their kids (especially their daughter) to that cesspool. Not only do they cover up their dirty laundry (which happens in more places than just Baylor), but what makes it worse is that they hide behind this veil of righteousness (because Christian yo) that gives people this false sense of security. Thus, it would be wise for the womenz to stay away from there... let the football team rape each other.

TLDR: **** Baylor

Would really hope the NCAA steps in and death penalty's them off if they do this. A few people with more money than sense have made that school lose their way and they don't want their beautiful new toilet bowl investment go for naught.

Without any real consequences?
They just paid Briles a bunch of money.
They are still going to pay a **** load of money in settlements.
They are losing most of their 2016 class.
They're going to suck balls with an interim coach and all this going on.
Their 2017 recruiting class will suck.
They are going to have to pay through the nose to try to get any decent coach to give up the rest of their career by coaching at Baylor.
Their attendance is going to suffer anyway, but if they have even a couple of losing seasons it will die.
Their revenue will die along with it.
They owe money for their new stadium that they won't be able to afford unless boosters can cover that along with the rape settlements and others they are shelling out for.

In short they have already Baylored themselves.

I guess somebody hit the flush handle on their new toilet bowl stadium. Gonna take a lot of Lysol to clean the stinch out of that baby!

Nothing will happen to Baylor. The alleged guilty parties are no longer affiliated with the school. The NCAA risks and even bigger PR mess if they smack them down with serious sanctions and the media message becomes "the NCAA isn't punishing the guilty parties, those people are gone. They are punishing good kids that had nothing to do with this and chose to go to Baylor"

There is a reason Baylor has been severing ties with people. This gives the school and opportunity to escape heavy sanction.

Worst case scenario is one of these civil suits goes to trial and everything gets put into the public record. It is not just the Title IX issues (not high on damages for individual plaintiffs usually) but the negligence in keeping a student on campus who has been accused of multiple assaults.

The woman in the Sam U. case obtained a settlement before suit was even filed. The Hernandez suit involves the sixth female to be attacked by Tevin Elliott. A jury could hammer the hell out of them for that. And the NCAA has their case made for them in the process.

Baylor has a history of coaches pushing the envelope, even covering up a murder to cover up a recruiting scandal. Now this complete institutional failure. Changing ADs and Presidents is a better course than keeping them, of course. And Briles is the heat sink just because he's so unlikeable and already has the rep of being a ruthless "winning is everything" type of coach.

The pain for Baylor is far from over and this mess is going to cost them a ton of money to turn the corner, if they even can.
