I think moving forward the SEC needs to expand to 16 schools and create 4 Divisions of 4 teams.

For the 2 additional teams I would like to see Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

The beauty of the 4 team divisions is that you play everyone in your division yearly and 2 teams from the other divisions each year. This way you play every other team in the SEC every other year. And travel to all the schools every 4 years.

West Division
Missouri, Oklahoma, OSU, Arkansas

South Division
Texas aTm, LSU, Ole Miss, MSU

Central Division
Auburn, Kentucky, Vandy, Alabama

East Division
Tennesse, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia

Other schools that could be added:
North Carolina, Virgina, FSU, VT, Clemson

Hot damn, this is a novel concept! Your ideas intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I'm guessing the SEC is chomping at the bit to gobble up those lucrative Oklahoma TV deals.

All jokes aside, adding the Oklahoma teams would definitely pop the competitiveness of the SEC up another notch.

Nah. Don't need or want the Sooners or Pokes. If any expansion, go east into Virginia and North Carolina.

Keep the dysfunctional Big XII alive, on life support, but alive.

Your proposal requires the SEC to expand to 9 conference games and to give up permanent cross division rivals.

Also two Oklahoma teams...?

I was pumping the 16 team league idea back when a&m first went to the SEC (as did many others)... I liked VT and *insert NC team*.. but honestly I like the current setup with the exception of not getting to visit the east teams very often (9 conf game schedule would fix that, but I'm not sure it's worth it)

**** no!

16 team conferences are so 2013.

Why help the Big 12?

The SEC is fine right at 14 schools. The State of Oklahoma brings nothing to the table.

Enjoy being stuck with Baylor and Texas.

What would 4 conferences buy? I like the trips across the east schools.

Why take a big pile of money and divide it by 16 when it works perfectly well dividing it by 14?

Still thursday, I'm bored, and I think North Carolina and Virginia make the most sense. I think they're probably the most accessible for moving conferences. OU is too stuck to the sips, OSU is too stuck to OU, and I don't know that FSU really has any reason to leave the ACC.

North Carolina nor Virginia are at all likely to happen imo. Neither is really a cultural fit, esp UVa. Virginia Tech and NC St maybe but the grant of rights would seem to be a major obstacle.

Florida ain't letting FSU get in imo, .... ever.

I'm pretty happy with things as they sit provided we field a real football team going forward.

1. Makes no business sense. Ou and OSU can't add to the payout each school gets b/c not enough tv's in Oklahoma.
2. Makes no recruiting sense. We have a recruiting advantage against both schools with TX recruits in that we are the only TX school in the SEC. Everybody knows that. Bad deal all the way around.
OP is a sooner desperate sooner.

Louisville and VT would be much more likely than the Okie schools...

Why would Mizzou be in the west if we are far more west than them...

No Oklahoma schools

4 divisions could work in this way: 3 games against division opponents, 2 games against permanent cross rivals, and then 3 other conference games. Also, 4 divisions makes finding 2 teams for the SEC-C game a little tougher.

OU and OSU would love to leave the Big 12. Any of the 9 besides Texas would love to get out of there!

NC State and Virginia or Virginia Tech

Louisville, FSU are out- private agreement between A&M, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolna and Georgia to not allow any in state schools from their home state in. FSU, Louisville, Clemson, GT and all schools from Texas are off the board.

It bears repeating, even in a hypothetical sense: OU is not coming to the SEC

It's now Friday and I'm less bored. Would Nebraska make sense for the SEC? Do schools sign a contract for a certain number of years in a conference? I don't know if it would make any sense, more curious than anything.

Every college football conference should scrap divisions. Here's the whole Power 5 plan starting with the SEC.

Great idea OP

How about we set up a 20 team conference called Everyone Else and merge the Big 12 and CUSA together.

Why does everyone insist on expanding the SEC anymore?
VikingNik

Just keep it at 14 and do the 'roommate swap'.
