Should we contemplate playing t.u. again? Take the Poll

The analogy has more truth to it than you think. You see, it took a massive conflict between A&M's donor class and its administration, and a major outflow of cash from sip boosters, to barely beat us in recruiting. Why? Because we are dominating this State in perception amongst the two flagship schools. It took a rare event for them to sniff our jocks.
But put them on the schedule, and you place things in a more even game. Why do it? What upside do we have? When we have a decent season, we dominate them in recruiting and perception in our new SEC digs. We control our destiny. It is the position we always wanted, but have never had, and now some Aggie fans want to get nostalgic. Why? Can we not go a decade alone and see how we do? Are you that infatuated with your ex?
You fail to remember the political capital expended by the sips in tilting the playing field in their favor 364 days per year, only to play a game that you thought was fair. No, we don't need to play a team whose most dominating victories come off the field, like when Ricky was traded to the Texas Rangers right before he was to declare for the 1998 draft. Can you imagine the 1998 sips with just tiny freshman Major Applewhite at QB with no Ricky behind him? Kind of changes things, right?
For Pete's sake, you had an Old Rivalries sip poster junkie who spent hours upon hours defending the internet honor of all things longhorn......end up being the back judge that called the targeting penalty on Trent Hunter in 2011. And you want to sign that game up again because it might sell a few tickets and make a good story? Are you that selfish and narrow minded?
Come on people. Why must we go over this every few weeks. Remember the lengths they went to keep us down. Just read the LHN contract if you want to know the lengths they will go to create a permanent off field advantage. Why do they continue to do it? Because they know, like Jackie knows, "It ain't about the X's and O's, its about the Johnny's and Joe's" Right now, we control our own destiny with "Johnny and Joe" for the first time in over a century, and you want to potentially give that up? Were you born stupid?

Honestly that diatribe comes off as petulant. Of course the two flagship universities in the state, with a 100 year tradition of competing should play each other. Beating them despite their machinations is the goal. Your rant gives them MORE deference than they deserve.

Man talk about an own goal. Why give them any advantage? Will we play them in the future? Probably, but it shouldn't be anytime in the next couple of decades. Give us a chance to change the dynamics in this state for at least a generation before giving them the opportunity to get back on their feet.
quote:Both schools were financial beneficiaries of the Lone Star Showdown being one of IMG's rivalry series games. They made some coin, regardless of which team was the home team.
Moot points...$$$ will drive this decision.

Nah. I just don't fear them like it appears some do.
quote:No, it means they have done everything possible to hold us hostage. Now that we are free, morons like you want to pretend like they weren't that bad. **** them! They need this game way more than we do. Let's be free for a while so history won't repeat itself.
So that means we're SUPPOSED TO fear them?
