Coming up at 9:30 Central. a panel discusses why we can't keep QBs. Ugh.

The worst thing that ever happened to the college football QB attitude is JFF and Winston winning Heisman. Now they all think they should start as a true freshman.

Combine that with a coach mishandling the issue and *boom*.

Yeah, ESPN has been piggybacking off the Zoo for way too long, if you ask me.

I found Kyle Allen's TexAg's account. How many more times are you going to blame Johnny for your bratty attitude?

4-8 against the SEC West, can't argue that tend is in the wrong direction.

Horrible. Said 8 QBs have left the program since Johnny.

-Showers
-Davis
-Stewart
-Joeckel
-Hill
-Allen
-Murray
-Martell

Really? Come on man! While true that people have left, how about some context. Seriously, nothing but a hit piece. I hate that we give them the ammo though. At this point only winning will shut them up.

So two of those guys graduated from A&M Showers and Joeckel

Stewart never came here as he played pro baseball

Martell never even SIGNED with us. That is going to now be the standard for all other colleges as well?

I also doubt Davis has anything bad to say about A&M either.

Really?
Although this specific talking point should have been investigated further, I thought it was fair segment. The jest of the round table was about the state of A&M football. Finebaum is correct in saying Sumlin really hasn't improved the program since Johnny left...the SEC record in particular speaks for itself.
I also agree with the comment that Chavis's defense will be Trevor Knight's best friend...as it will be the best defense in the Sumlin era.

I don't know how Kohl Stewarts baseball career is progressing...any chance he pulls a "he who should not be named because he is the father of a snivelling little brat" and returns to college football? he has never enrolled anywhere as far as i know so still would have 4 years eligibility.

Would be nice to have a more senior type guy even if it was baseball, i am sure it has matured him more than these 18 year old punks.

Not this **** again.......

Three left because they didn't want to sit behind Johnny.. One left for a million dollar paycheck in the MLB. And one of those never even came to A&M in the first place.

So cut your list of 8 down to 3 and you MIGHT have a point.

In a word: Excellent.

Don't expect to see Kohl in an Aggie uniform for a long time, if ever.

-Showers - Graduated and was going to be a backup to Heisman Trophy Winner
-Davis - Lost on the depth chart, tranferred to play (This is a good problem at big time programs)
-Stewart - Baseball
-Joeckel - Graduated and would have been 3rd string behind Hill and Allen
-Hill - Beat out by 5 Star QB, transferred for playing time.

Allen and Murray do raise red flags on the program. Regular fans will never know the true story and the details, but it is concerning that two five star recruits transferred out the same year.

-Allen -
-Murray

-Martell - Give me a break. A recruits opens up his choices after an OC change then eventually decommits. Martell should not be on this list.

This is nothing new, just talking by ESPN trying to make more of nothing and get viewers. Of the 8 QBs, 2 of them could be talked about when asking if we have problems with QBs.

The points of Sumlin not improving the program since Johnny are true. We need to win this year, have a good defense and a much improved offense to make a statement. Everything comes down to winning games, and we just havent done that enough, especially against SEC West teams.

I don't get the Joeckel, Hill, and Allen transfers. Staff should have been able to hang on to at least two of those three.

Maybe there is something about the way the competition for the starting job is handled. Kliff had some guys bailing from Tech too. Guys that could have seen playing time.

I'm also a little surprised that at least one of Showers and Davis didn't stay considering Johnny was an undersized DT QB. It's amazing the guy didn't miss 5-5 games over his two years.

Both Johnny and Jameis redshirted before earning starting spots and winning Heisman trophies.

You gotta go back 10 years, but Tim Tebow getting as much PT as he did as a TRUE freshman would probably be a better example. My point is this didn't start with those 2 players.

If Stewarts is not satisfied with his minor league life and wants back to fb career, that would be a fantastic idea for both of us and him in terms of "MLB to the NFL".

Three of those QBs left because they were behind Manziel. They left before Manziel did.

And Martell was never part of the program, he was just a committed a 2017 recruit. He couldn't even sign a letter of intent yet.

Only three QBs have actually left the program post-Manziel. Now the problem is those three did it in a two year span.

Joeckel graduated already, was third on the depth chart, and was a career backup here. Hill and Allen were the same, both really good, but couldn't handle pressure. I'd assume most Ags would rather have Knight/Hubenak over Hill/Allen any day.

Its amazing how many people think two 5 stars with a locker room divided is some how better than two veteran qb's that aren't as good, but work together to give the team the best chance at winning.

Expecting Hill and Allen to handle pressure at that age is a little too much. Some guys can at that age but very few. Both of these guys may end up being really good and on an NFL roster.

Joeckel had already graduated and was third string (behind Manziel and Hill). Hill was an alcoholic/addict that self destructed mid-season.

Allen was not handled well by our staff. At the same time, he had his own temper tantrum and left before the bowl game rather than wait to see how the OC situation shook out.

Murray is cancer.

Allen was thrown under the bus by his head coach, who had no relationship with him, therefore; he couldn't trust the Head Coach.

I get a kick out of listening to The Zoo b*tch about ESPN doing a story on the neverending clown car circus that is A&M Football, and realized what y'all sound like - A bunch of whiny entitled millenials. If the truth upsets you that much, turn off the TV, go to your special safe space and think happy rainbow unicorn thoughts about how we will go undefeated next year, not only winning the SEC West, but the MNC as well.

Time to stop blaming others for simply reporting how the rest of the sports world outside of College Station perceives the current state of A&M Football, and put the blame where it belongs - Sumlin and his BMA enablers.

While a bit strongly worded, this is accurate.

You guys are trying to rationalize more top tier QBs leaving than anyone has ever experienced at any other program. That is a problem.

Acting like we didn't want any of them or trying to rationalize each one of them is silly, in the aggregate, it is bad they all left.

Nobody is trying to rationalize all of them.

It is stupid to think that Joeckel, Showers & Davis leaving had anything to do with a wheels off program.

It had everything to do with the fact that they were all multiple years into the program when they watched a fish win the Heisman and solidify the starting job, or so they thought, for the rest of their careers. Those three were gone 100 times out of 100 regardless of the program.

Then Johnny bails and we basically found ourselves in a situation where we were rebuilding the position which is tough.

Not justifying all the moves that have been made or saying all of it was handled well, but it is idiotic to quote those 3 QBs as part of some sort of trend line indicating a problem.

Too many here love to play the victim. I agree Joeckel and Showers are irrelevant since neither could even be here at this point. As for the rest, it doesn't matter why they left. If just one had stayed, there would be no story. Although it would have been next to impossible to keep them all, we could still have Matt Davis and/or Kenny Hill as RS SRs, or Stewart as a RS JR, or Allen as a RS SO, or Murray as a RS FR, with Martell next in the pipeline. The story is that somehow we have ZERO of those guys in the fold, and instead are relying on a grad transfer at the position. It's mind blowing, and definitely worthy of a segment on ESPN.

You don't know that Hill was an alcoholic. Yeah, he may have been drinking to deal with the immense pressure to live up to Johnny. He may be started at TCU.

Don't know about the 100 out of 100 but the rest is spot on. There also have not been too many programs that have pulled in so many talented QBs in such a short time.
