1. Recruits should go to a school that is best for them
We are all complaining about the de-commits. Why? A&M may be special for us as Aggies, but may not be for an outside person. The only time it is special is for legacy kids. If not, then A&M is judged as any other school. We do the same for our education. I could not get into Stanford, Caltech or MIT. I got into A&M. That was the best school I got into, so I took it. If I had gotten into Stanford, I would have gone there.
2. Drama and uncertainty among the coaches
We don't know if Sumlin will be here past this year. It also looks like there is a lot of stress and turmoil among the coaches and management. Who would want to stay in a place like this? If my company had this, I would be looking to leave too. I would want to go to a place where I can focus on my skills, not outside drama.
3. We are on the way down
We had a few up years with JFF, but we are now on the way down. Will we go up again? Maybe, but the trend is down. We are not a hot school right now. Top recruits want to go to a top school to get into the NFL, not one that messes up its recruits like we have done recently.
4. The recruitment process is flawed.
Yes, commitment does not mean anything now. That is how the rules are set up. I will not blame the recruits, the process needs to be changed.
5. "Let's hire kids who want to be Aggies".
News for you. Not many (outside of legacy) just want to be Aggies. They join because A&M accepted and others did not. The kids we see today are a product of the system where everyone is and has to be selfish. IF we want to win a NC, we have to work within the system.
