In what year was the first woman awarded a bachelor's degree from A&M?

I bet it was some kind of "sweetheart degree" awarded to the wife of a coach or professor in the 40s or 50s?

Nav, I appreciate the response. Could you tell me why '79, and why before the Service Academies? Did they not allow ladies in before then or at that time?

Not sure of the reason A&M started admitting women into the Corps - and the first grads may have been in '78. Not positive it was '79.

Seems the bigger hullabaloo was when women were admitted into the FTAB.

I do know the Service Academies graduated their first women in '80, as I served with several AF Academy grads that were proud "LCWB" class of '79 members.

Sally Sheppard in '65 might be the answer to OP's question.

Mary Custer (nee Cantu) was the first female Hispanic Aggie to graduate in '69.

It can't be. Even though administrator's wives and daughters were allowed to attend classes way back then, they were not allowed to receive degrees.

For the others who answered ... Crawford's degree wasn't a Bachelor's degree and wasn't truly recognized as an accredited degree.
