I thought the Cam Newton post interview was fine.

I didn't have a dog in the fight for the superbowl so I'm not biased. Cam Newton is getting lit up for his post game interview. I think I'm the only one that thought he handled it just fine. He could have chosen not to talk at all but he came out and answered questions. The press could clearly see he didn't want to talk but he answered enough questions for them to get a few quotes so they could do their job and write their columns. After that what's the point of continuing to ask him questions? I thought he handled it just fine.

He will mature and handle that situation differently in the future. He could have given better answers and not acted like a little baby because he got beat.

He has been in the league five years & hasn't learned yet.

He just lost the biggest game of his life. I wouldn't expect him to come out and be all chipper with the press. So, I have no problem with it either.

However, what I did have a problem with was his body language during the game. I saw none of his "leadership" qualities that alot of people have talked about. It's easy to be a leader in the good times. Much, much harder when you're team is behind, AND the game is still winnable. I saw alot of frustration and I'm sure his teammates saw it, too.

He's a titty baby. When he wins, it's all unicorn farts and rainbows. When he loses, he pouts.

No. He needs to give his coachspeak type answer about the other team being awesome and admit that the loss has humbled him. Anything short of that is just the guy being a sore loser.

I believe that was his shoulder dangling from the pounding that FTA Von Miller and the Denver D was putting on him. He got pounded. It's one thing to not have good body language when you are still able to stand. That poor kid probably slept in an ice bath last night. His body language in-game didn't concern me, that was a hard hitting game.

I don't think he had any idea what he was in for going into the game, so I truly think he was shocked. He didn't see a defense like that during the regular season or playoffs.

The dude was just named the MVP of the NFL. For better or for worse, he is a face of the league. The face of the league can't pout at an interview and walk off the stage.

He said multiple times they got out played. I think there must be a lot of people that hated Cam newton before the game and that's driving this pile on that's occurring.

I don't disagree, he certainly took a pounding last night. However, I've seen tons of QBs take just as much pounding (probably more) and yet had the ability to lead. Cam was shrugging his shoulders, shaking his head, etc. Players that can celebrate and "lead" during the good times come a dime a dozen. Those that can lead when times are bad are pretty rare.

He is a petulant child pure and simple. His true colors showed when he didn't dive for that loose ball that could have given his team a chance

I'm not going to get into a big argument about a Cam Newton interview but I'm just curious if you watched the entire post game interview or just the vine that's going around of him getting up an walking out? I think some are just seeing a video of one question being asked and then him walking out but he did that after sitting there for a while answering questions.

CAM NEWTON WAS A GOOD SPORT

He lost the biggest game of his life....and what did he do....he went and shook hands with Peyton Manning, and congratulated him in a brief conversation. A professional and a competitor.

Who cares how he deals with the media? Only the media. I'm a Bronco fan and I've got no problem with Cam at all.

Every single one of these players, win or lose would rather be with teammates, family, and friends that talking to the media.

Win or lose, the only reason they do press is so they won't get fined. Don't eat up what the media is feeding you about someone because that someone didn't play the puppet that the media wanted.

That is more important than the interview. If he'd skipped Peyton but gave an upbeat interview would that have been better?

How difficult is it to say the following: "I take the blame for this game. I lost focus, committed 3 turnovers and was not my sharpest for the team. Give Denver a lot of credit, they executed their game plan. We will be back."

Yes he can. The losing QB interview is a contrived puppet show anyway (if not the whole thing). I think it's dumb to even have it. That interview is just to get sound bites for a story that's already written.

The whole idea that the definition of class is whatever you say when you lose is silly...but it's a bizarre sports culture thing.

The dude will be back in the Super Bowl. He just needs to learn from this, regroup his team and show he is resilient. The Panthers are a great team and will be back in the big game some time in the next 4 years.

It's not really class to regurgitate a blurb that everyone expects to hear from the "loser".

I am not worried about what is or is not classy, I am pointing out what a mature adult would have done in that situation.

Cams history is what's getting him flack.
Someone with a stellar history would have gotten a pass, but Cam doesn't have that, either in college or the pros.
Most see it as "more evidence" of whatever they thought he was, and more evidence that he can dish it out and stand up and be a man when the tables are turned.
Especially when, even with OL issues and drops, he committed 3 TOs that led to 14 points and could very well have cost them the game.
Even if it's perfunctory, you're the team leader, take the heat for your guys publicly.

I don't see why people are making such a big deal about this. Cam hates losing. He was pissed off because of their performance. So what he walked off? He answered the questions and did not have anything else to say. I think a player that gets pissed off when his team doesn't win is just fine.

You're missing my point. Saying your quote is not a definition of maturity either. It says nothing about the individual at all, and I am not sure why we the consumers want them to give us this pandering answer.

being upset about losing is one thing. being a mature adult at the podium for 3 minutes is not much to ask.

Most of that is people choosing to believe what they want to believe...and constructing their own narratives around that already-formed 'truth' they hold.

I think it shows a ton of maturity to sit at a podium and verbally accept blame and congratulate the winner. That should have been the minimum expectation. if he wanted to show himself after that, fine. But he showed himself in a way that makes it look like he doesn't care. being a professional is not just playing a game between the white lines.

Don't think it would be as big a deal if he wasn't so outrageous when he wins. It's kind of a prototypical sore loser, goes crazy when he's winning, kicks the board over when he's losing.
