Below is an updated draft of the chart I've posted here before to help visualize our recruiting needs each cycle:



Before I get started on the recruiting sections, does anyone see any errors/omissions (extra/missing players, wrong positions, wrong class years, etc.) for our current roster?

Also, ignore the 2016 class (red players) for now -- they are obviously subject to change until NSD.

Positions I am most concerned about from quality depth perspective are Center and CB. Maybe we can steal some recruits this year at these two positions?

I think we're a little deeper at CB than some fail to realize. Now, the depth and inexperience along the OL, particular Center, as you pointed out, is what worries me.

I assume you're waiting for TD Moton's test results? I believe he'll be here next season.

We're pretty loaded overall.

There is a concern, obviously, with the health and play at LB, as well as the youth and play at OL.

Since he threw a fit because Eleumenor took his spot and was told he'd never play here again.

Thanks for this, but whoever is filling out the needs section is way off. We don't need 2 QBs. We are taking Martell in 2017 and that's it. 0 TEs? The staff wanted 2 TEs this year, they'll definitely want 2 next year if they don't get any thing year. Stop thinking about Spavital and think about what Mazzone does with TEs.

And you always, ALWAYS, need more than 2 DL in a recruiting class. In 2015 we took 3 and this year we only have 4(with Moton). I'd rather get 5 DL and 2 LB and 5 LB and 2 DL.

Stars matter, but so does wanted to play for the school. A 5 star that does not want to be there can cause a lot of problems.

Yep, you can get some damn good 3-star players. But a 3-star player on the whole will play better or be less a liability if he is surrounded by 4&5-star players.

comparatively, our talent sucks at LB relative to the rest of our team, and also relative to other teams in the SEC.

Of course if you compare us to SMU then maybe you could consider us to be talented.

Talent sucks and NO talent are two different things. Yes, the LB position is a weak spot. However, I trust in Chief to get the best out of those listed on the roster, especially Alaka if he can stay healthy. I also believe Claude George will improve in year 2, and Richard Moore may be the biggest surprise.

All that being said, sure would like to shore up a couple of top LBs in this 2016 class...

Needs isn't updated yet (those are old numbers) -- wouldn't make sense to fill the 2017 stuff out until the 2016 class is finalized.
