Former UH coach June Jones to be offensive coordinator at Kapolei (high school)

I watched a lot of Hawaii football when Jones was coaching there. I had ESPN GamePlan at the time, and their 11 PM kickoffs were always the last game of the night. Jones absolutely loved living in Hawaii but left to go to a place with the resources to compete. That place wasn't ever going to be SMU, but he needed to start somewhere in the contiguous US. But he burned out at SMU and quit in September 2014.

When If you burn out at SMU (not exactly a high stress gig), a Hawaii high school is probably a very nice place to be.

I could think of only a couple jobs better than being a retired college head coach, with millions of dollars at my disposal, living in Hawaii and coaching high school offense. That would be simply amazing.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they might throw the ball occasionally.

I completely agree. But what I also know is that there is a high degree of likelihood that for six months a year, every year, June Jones was able to effectively expense every living expenses, save his mortgage, on the backs of an Athletic Department. And that is huge. I think it would be difficult not to save money as a college head coach in this day and age.

Why was he not in our OC search?

Um...he wasn't in many if any searches after the SMU experiment.

Could we organize a Kapolei High School (coached by June Jones) versus Nauset Regional High School (Coached by Mike Sherman) game?

Prediction that Nauset leads at halftime but blows the lead in the 4th quarter.

Not to mention coaches at the D1 level eat, sleep, and live football, so many don't have time to spend it. Now, wife and kids...

Wonder if Chad Morris will head back to Elysian Fields when the SMU job fails again?

I remember when he could have had any job he wanted when he was with Hawaii. Found it odd he wound up at SMU.
