This, BMAs would rather get their choice than win. Happened with every coach since Jackie.

Miguel - This is a question many programs have been asking themselves for years and will continue to do so. Take a look at Clemson's history and look at them now. HC Dabo Swinny recently talked about "clemsoning" as in collapsing at the end. We can relate!

The fact that we are now a couple of years into the SEC and are averaging 8 wins a season is a good start, but of course - not the goal. I say "R E L A X" - continue to support the program and weather the storm, lest you become a fair weather fan.

$ plus a good environment doesn't mean you have an edge and pretend to play with an advantage. Not that hungry the way we play week after week.

That's why home field advantage is not that.

Every program has its share of stupid/arrogant/obnoxious big money.

My opinion about us (I am an Aggie, btw):

a) Too many "black and white" thinking engineer types. Building a football program is not like building a bridge; lots more intangibles, subjectivity, nuances, character evaluation, etc.
b) Deep-rooted military tradition. Being loyal to the death is good for foxholes - not so much for other things. Obeying orders without questioning (like a robot) is good for charging up hills - not so much for other things.

Flame away.

there are 7 or 8 other schools in the SEC that can say the same thing.

also...a sobering reality...the "talent" in the state of Texas in not significantly better than the talent produced in some of the other SEC states like Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Alabama. Especially at o-line, d-line, RB, and LB

Who are these donors? Can (or will) anyone name at least one? Because you'd think if they were in the position to be that influential with their money in the first place that they'd have more sense than to consider the mediocrity we've endured since, well, forever anywhere close to being acceptable. When we see how much more teams with so much less accomplish on a consistent basis, there's no way they could be getting anywhere close to a reasonable ROI, no matter how you measure it. It just doesn't add up...

Yeah, that's it. Totally. The guys who support the program by actually writing the checks (instead of banging on keyboards while drunk and angry) are actually oblivious to W-L records.

We are no more impatient than any other fan base/administration. RC had, what, 13 years. Fran, Sherm, Sumlin each with four. Four seems about the norm in determining if a coach has his program on the right track. No one doubts the sense in getting rid of Fran or Sherm (although there has been more Sherm nostalgia on here lately).

And which of those other impatient fan bases/administrations have produced consistent top 10 (20-25) programs over the ensuing four years? In fact, what are the universal parameters of "the right track?"

Freakin Ole Miss, back to back NY6 Bowl appearances. Back to back wins over Bama. New QB, no excuses. A&M.....nothing worth mentioning.

45 years of watching Aggie football and with the exception of the mid 80,s and late 90,s we have always lacked team leaders who would refuse to lose.

Our culture is one that has been relative lull supportive regardless of outcome ( except to tu) and I have probably mistakenly assumed that we help developed a mindset that it's not the end of the world to lose.

I saw JFF slam his helmet down when the Browns ran out of time. Where is that competitive nature , that anger about losing on the current team?

Jackie was the definitive good ol boy hire. I don't know if any university officials were even involved in that hire, or if they just waited for Bum Bright to tell them how it would be.

Yes, the program that receives the most money and attention seems to struggle while every other program performs better. I think the reason is exactly because it receives the most attention. Too many chiefs giving input and making decisions has led to dysfunction.

No. Pam Poovey is an Archer reference.
