Not "Interim." He was OC for an ENTIRE season, that was Sumlin's decision on who would be best to run the offense for an entire year, and he was terrible. And now Jake was over his head. How many blunders are you supposed to get at $5 million/year?

Regardless what you think about Coach Sumlin, how can anybody see good things happening at tu? Kids make decisions for various reasons. But anybody applying critical thinking has to see that it isn't a good situation in Austin. There are plenty of things that you can point to show that things are screwed up. The sips seem to be unified in not questioning why top recruits are willing to commit in spite of the screw up of the coaching staff. They still get excited about getting recruits.

Being 5-7, Charlie can guarantee immediate playing time... Exactly what every incoming freshman wants. Aside from the KM debacle, KDS doesn't guarantee anything, so the prima donnas and entitled brats look elsewhere. Several of our roster spots are locked for next season.

I'm not just knocking A&M...I hate the entire process. I get that the star system has some value; it'd be stupid to say otherwise. But I think a lot of people get lost in that system. Sherman had a way of finding guys that weren't rated highly but turned them into NFLers. Sumlin seems to do just the opposite. Go after the high profile athletes who end up being a)drama queens or b) overrated. There are some exceptions, as always (Mack, Myles, etc). But on offense, it's a different story. The line has gotten worse every year. Turning running backs into DBs. Unpolished receivers for the 3rd year in a row. Athletic tight ends who never see the field. And the inability to keep talented quarterbacks on the roster for the 3rd year in a row. And the offense has had "more stars" than the defense.

Epic, I think it is the unusual guaranteed money in Sumlin's contract that makes it more of a hot button issue, along with the fact that he makes more than Miles, Freeze, Malzhan, etc.

Also, Chuckles' 5-7 tu beat both OU and Baylor, albeit with Baylor's running back dropping back to pass. Either way, even if they lost to crappy teams, they also beat better teams than we did this year, and Charlie can sell that. He can sell that he's still building a team. All we can sell are the SEC, beating Arkansas and Ole Miss or MSU, and getting butt****ed by LSU and Bama every year. At this point, tu has more potential than we do.

Losing Cuffee isn't that big of a deal. The defense has CB depth. McCulloch would be a big loss though. Have to get him.

i got nothing for you guys then. but, whether y'all like it or not sumlin's gonna be here next season most likely with a new OC after this bowl game.

Sumlin is coaching for his job tomorrow. if he has the team show up flat and gets blown out, he won't be able to withstand the **** storm that will follow after the disaster of the last two months.

5 Million per year means that all problems are handled, and all opponents are dominated? It also must mean that all personality conflicts for 100% of the team, coaching staff, and support staff are resolved, and the entire group, lets say 150+ people, all skip down the road to winning every game, recruiting battle, and everything else until Coach Sumlin retires.

What if the opposing head coaches also make 5 million per year? Will everything end in a tie at that point?

Oh! I know! We should pay someone 6 million per year! Then we'd beat everyone except Alabama, who pays Saban more than that.

On a serious note, please stop hyperventilating. This is the real world, not your xbox. Nobody can resolve all conflicts, or win every game, or every recruiting battle. Not even Saban, or Meyer, or Harbaugh. Some times people melt down, or need a change, or can't get along, regardless of how great the CEO is. Nobody wins all the time.

They didn't just lose to Iowa State. They were blown out. Granted A&M was blown out by Ole Miss and Bama. Iowa State isn't at that level. Baylor playing with their 4th string QB wasn't a great team. Beating OU does count as a superior win. If they can turn things around and have a consistent, winning program again, it would be a marked departure from what Charlie Strong and company have been doing so far. Based on their own set of comedy of errors, there is plenty of reason to be skeptical. Plenty.
