I have friends from around there and they say it like that. I always thought it was how pronounced like the OP until they told me otherwise.

Yeah. People in Kentucky say LOO-uh-vull.
I always thought it was Louie Ville since I always heard Louisville Slugger pronounced that way.

The locals will tell you to pronounce it like you have a bunch of marbles or ****s in your mouth. Whatever your preference is.

Sounds and looks like Louie ville. Loo uh vull is how most people say it. Kind of seems wrong but around my home town, Murchison would seem to be pronounced Murch-i-son but we pronounce it murk-son.
