Any news on what this thing is supposed to look like? Sharp and company are usually eager to release renderings of these projects.

Heard it will be gothic in style, with sharp edges in honor of Sharp.

12 rooms will stay empty in honor of the 12th man.

The initial list of those who had been told they'd have lifetime access and right of refusal to purchase the penthouse suites have been told they'll be accommodated at the Ramada, while new corporate money is taking over the top floors.

All employment and catering will be outsourced to ****ty companies.

Other than that though, it's been pretty quiet.

Sounds like a hotel for the rich connected Ags to stay at on football weekends. Of course they will add some side things to justify it.

Bingo! Parking garage is going up first and is supposed to be done by next football season. Suffice to say, those spots will cost a pretty penny.

I think a monorail station should go on top!
I think I remember Sharp talking about a skywalk, or such, that will connect it to Kyle.

Amazing that every plaque and change to the landscaping to campus has to go through the Office of the President's Design review - as did all the plans and changes to Kyle - but there seems to be nothing out there on this project.

Are they just tearing down Cain while they are negotiating the contract and design?

Speaking of monorail.... If they can do it at the University of West Virginia, why could they not do it at A&M?

The Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system is a unique and easy-to-use transportation solution for WVU students, faculty, staff, and the Morgantown community. There are five stations: Walnut Street Downtown; Beechurst Avenue for the Downtown campus; Engineering Sciences; the Evansdale Residential Complex; and Health Sciences. Powered by electric motors, the computer-driven cars arrive at your station within five minutes after you swipe your Mountaineer Card or employee ID.

A&M doesn't need a monorail. That is for the LOLfats and the beetus.

Back around 1980 or so Aggie Cinema decided to host an all night movie series at the Grove. The idea was to program a bunch of really bad films. It would be free to get in but would cost to leave. The longer you stayed the less you had to pay and if you made it all night, it was free. In practice we just made money selling popcorn and cokes and i'm not sure if we charges ANYONE to leave.

Anyway we started late on a Friday night after all the parking lots on campus were technically open to anyone. So I parked my car right next to the Grove in the parking lot at Cain. A few hours later I remembered hearing a high pitched hissing sound but didn't think much of it. Later I went to car for some reason and saw that someone had let the air our of my tires. Several members of the football team were telling people to move their $&%*# cars and we kept saying that the parking lot was open on the weekends. I called the KKs (Campus Cops) and he showed up, looked at the situation, opened up his trunk and pulled out an air compressor and pumped my tires back up. I asked him if he was planning on doing anything to the guys who did it and he said he didn't think that was a viable option. He also acknowledged that the parking lot was open to everyone but suggested that I move my car.

Loved living there. RIP Cain Hall. Some of my favorite memories from college happened there.

When weather often precluded outdoor movie features at the old A&M Grove (before Cain Hall), those movies were often/also shown at Guion Hall - which was razed for the MSC-OPUS tower to be built...
And yes, many memories of both for us "olds"...

For instance,, It was mandatory formation for all Ags to attend "Ohio Code 10" movies at Guion Hall every year just before the first big break - Thanksgiving... which was to scare the tar out of those of us driving POV's home by watching horrendous, bloody crash site scenes of accidents that had been captured on film in Ohio... Very sobering!! I recall catching a ride with Jim Butler (journalist on the Bryan Daily Eagle staff) to Amarillo and he would not break 50 mph from watching those movies... Going 500 miles at 50 mph to Amarillo was torture in mostly wide open spaces and especially when the speed limit was 70 - and many were driving 80+ - but not us - Jim was doing 50...! We were a bigger danger at such a slow speed than the much faster cars and trucks...

This is strictly used for hauling coal that the students have mined to the WVU physical plant. Nothing else.

I know quite a number of former players in those days who worked the Alaskan pipeline over the summer. They made a ton of money, bought cars and pocketed a bunch.

Of course there were other deals also.

I lived their from 79-83. Many of the great players who played in the NFL did not even have cars. Most players were broke and had no money.

Pretty sure SMU outbid every school in the SWC for years.

We did manage to have some fun like most on campus.
