I haven't posted on here in over a year, but I frequent the message boards often.
I'm seeing a lot of rumblings amongst the faithful concerning Coach Fran. This doesn't suprise me considering where the Ag's are at this point in the season.
Things will get better. Much better!
I have been watching Coach Fran for a long time. I've been wathing him since his days at New Mexico. Being from ABQ and having had several friends play for him a UNM, I have followed his career ever since. Some are saying that all he did was take some crap teams to some .com bowls. Well, that's one way to look at it. Another is that he took New Mexico (the Freaking UNM Lobos, the crappiest of the crap football teams for as long as anyone can remember) and completely turned around the program into what it is today. Believe me, you will not find anyone in Albuquerque that thinks Fran will not turn A&M into a national power.
When Fran went to TCU and proclaimed them a sleeping giant, he was right. He turned that program into a power (yes it's not in a power in a BCS conference, but it's all relative). I was pissed when he went to Alabama, because I wanted him to stay a TCU until the Aggies fired R.C. then he could use his non-buyout clause and come to Aggieland.
My stepmother's family is all Alburn grads, and they are as happy has can be to not have to play a Fran coached Bama team every year. I can also tell you that the rest of the SEC is happy that he's gone.
Well he's finally made it to A&M and the Big XII. I for one could not be happier. The team's record this season is not what I would like it to be. But I don't care, because I wrote this season off almost a year ago. If you couldn't see the depth problems on defense the previous two years you had maroon tinted blinders on. Nothing that has happened this season, as far as wins and losses has suprised me. Except for the Pitt game.
That being said, I'm excited by what I see on the field and hear from the Coach. I see an offense that when its starts to click and the players react on instinct will be unstoppable. Right now we've just seen glimpses of whats to come. I see a defense that will come together in time, in fact I think it has probably turned the corner. It's not Wrecking Crew status yet but give it some time. I see in Coach Fran, a man who believes in himself and his track record. I see a man who know the resources he has at his finger tips to create a great program, not just a competative program. He has a plan and is focused on achieving his goals and putting his players in position to achieve their goals. He has managed to redshirt the majority of last years recruiting class and is putting together another great class this year.
Those who laugh and belittle the Aggies this season can go ahead an laugh. Fore there is a storm coming. An Aggie Storm, and it will forever alter Big XII football.
