Funny, I think we fired at least two of our last three too early.

Let Chavis pick next HC. Pay him more than HC, though.

He will. There are too many name jobs out there and he is top 3 on the list for most.

I think he has too much integrity to leave after this season. I bet he stays 2-3 more at least.

Herman has a strong defense too.

Herman has proven to win at high levels. Chavis is our only coach with national championship hardware as a coordinator or better. We need a HC and OC with the hardware

Point of contention. Sumlin was coaching for Stoops when they won a MNC at paper clip.

OU only won one championship, and Sumlin was coaching receivers at Purdue and about to take that job at A&M

No doubt, Tom Herman is going to be in demand. I still think he'll stay at UH though for a little while longer. IIRC, the UH job was the only job he was interested in and applied for because his family really enjoyed their time in Houston when he was coaching at Rice. UH will always be a stepping stone to bigger and better jobs though.

There's some good jobs open.


If either usc came calling, I'd leave Houston without hesitation.

Maybe none of you have noticed but its October. Coaches have contracts and they do not change jobs on a whim in the middle of a season.

She has a point. UH students are finally showing up consistently, but the donor sections were kinda sad when I went to their SWT game. Seats sold, but empty.

Tom Herman would be a great hire! He has Houston clicking on offense, just like he did at Ohio State and Rice University. Great offensive mind!

So now we are regulated to hiring a coach with ONE year of experience being a HC?

It doesn't matter who you hire as HC, if you don't have the right coordinators in place, you're f/cked. Sumlin can be more successful than Herman if he just had a top notch OC. The cat can obviously recruit very well.

we need uh to pony up and keep him from leaving after this season. then we overpay to get him after next season.

The difference is, Herman is winning with 2 star recruits from the Tony levine era, where as Sumlin had many many good players that Briles recruited. On top of this, Herman has shown he can recruit very very well....just look at what he has done at UH. Just watch, before it is all said and done you'll see a UH team that went 7-5 last year be in the top 10 in 2-3 weeks. Also, Herman has an absolute NO BS policy. Just last week he made players AND staff run suicides because their lockers were messy....

Just look into how he runs his program and you'll see that him and Scumlin are VERY different.
