I was at Bonfire 1995, 96 and 97. Then I watched the tragedy on the News in 99.

Is Bonfire gone forever? It's been over 15 years and it looks like it will never be part of A&M life again.

The bonfire is now built off campus by students and is no longer officially endorsed by A&M.

Go outside. Look toward Austin. See the smoke from their Bonfire?

Bonfire is bonfire, on campus or not. Organized by students, run by students, cut stacked and burned by students.

Doesn't the fact that it has continued off campus without incident for 15 years now give some legitimacy to the idea that it can be done safely and should have a chance to return to campus?

It does, but I think the Univ is afraid of the liability.

I'm just surprised that there are people who still think it might return to campus.

I think the culture of campus has changed to the point that bonfire will never be back on campus. Now it's just like any other student organization that some students participate in and it happens to build a bonfire off campus. It'll never be the center of on-campus life like it was pre-2000

There is an entire Forum devoted to the topic of Bonfire. I'm not sure if you're trolling, or what but you're not going to get a good response about such a touchy topic from the Zoo.
