I left SA at 5 AM to come to the game and had to drive back that evening. Left after the third so I could go to the Chicken and have a burger and beers and it was hot as hell. Not a 2%er but the game was decided and I wanted to cool down with a Harbach at the chicken.

Must be nice to have the opportunity to attend and then blow it off. This is my first year away, and I'd have no problem standing in the heat for 3+ hours to watch the Ags play live again.

Lots of trolling going on in here. Meanwhile ticket sales are looking great
Ticket sales look great because most of them were purchased two years ago by a lot of corporate entities.

Attendance was OK considering the 11 start time and heat. It was hot!!.

Very early + very hot = reduction in attendance. How many were there? I don't know--never announced. I have to believe that the number of tics scanned is known to the insiders, but it's not announced. The attendance was fine for the circumstances. Many left by the start of 4Q of the Ball State game. They knew the game was over and perhaps thought it was boring. It was a little boring, but I stayed to the end. I like "boring" when the Aggies are on the right side of boring.

We should probably do a $200mm renovation to downsize. We obviously don't have the fan base for this bigger stadium. See Baylor for example
How many tarps can you buy for $200mm?!?!

This is laughable... The stands are always emptying out before the final whistle against a non conference opponent, during the september "heat stroke" games. Heck the first one that comes to mind was the Fresno St. game in I believe 2005 or 2006.

This. The same people complaining about students leaving during non-conference games are the ones not standing for 4 hours straight with the sun beating down on them with no shade. Did you see a single cloud in the below picture? Wait for SEC play before you start complaining about folks leaving the second half of a game well in hand.

Hell, maybe they're all getting a head start to the Fish Pond?

At the start of the game was almost completely full. Pics on here only showing halftime and fourth quarter when some small cloud cover came in.

About half the seats in section 7 of the legacy club went unused. Thought those people would have sold their tickets to recover some of the outrageous money they paid for this season.

A ton of folks were under the decks due to the heat.
We had over 102 there...really....new army has no perspective.
We are fine. Geez.

Empty seats are the price you pay for an 11:00 am kick off in 97* heat just to satisfy the TV lords. The A&M crowd is generally always late showing to their seats but this past Saturday was sad. 5 minutes before kick off and it appeared the stadium was half empty. It did improve toward the end of the first Quarter as a lot of the student sections had filled in as did other parts of the stadium but to a lesser degree. The heat and sun was brutal though and I don't blame people for leaving early. All Sept and Oct. games at Kyle should be night games. A much better fan experience and consequently more fans would show.
No exaggeration here. Nope. None at all.

For those who weren't paying attention, A&M scored its first TD at 12:41 of the 1st quarter. Not really considered the end of the 1st quarter.

Why build this stadium when you couldn't even fill up the old one!!'???

We have the #14 team in the nation and they still can't get a full stadium. Hate to see what happens when franchione comes back!!
Uh, the old one sold out every game from Nebraska 2010 on. Since last year, every game has been over 100,000. Get a grip, man!

"Aggies (current and former students) used to stay the entire game, win or lose to support the team."

Those traditions are very important.

It was brutally hot. If I hadn't flown in to see the game and new stadium I may have thought to leave towards the end as well. However, the AC and beer every so often certainly helped.

I have never seen Kyle that empty. At the very least folks should have been interested to see Kyler Murray get some P/T, not to mention just being there to be, you know, the 12th Man in support of the team. Not that the 12th Man was some kind of unique cool tradition that used to set A&M apart. It <was> part of the identity and uniqueness of the Aggie spirit, but it won't be if this continues.

Times have changed I guess. Sad day in Aggieland. Embarrassing for all of us.

I remember one of the commentators noticing people leaving last year during the Ole Miss game, and he was legitimately surprised-because it went against the reputation of the 12th Man never quitting.

I think alot of people don't realize the uniqueness we had at A&M. Live out of state for a while-some johnny come lately school will put down blue turf and think they have something special. We are losing one of the coolest long standing traditions in all of college football and personally that is really disappointing to me. I guess it's inevitable with so many alumni that everything will just get watered down to where we are like every other school? Bandwagon fans who get all excited when we win, but don't stay in support when we fall behind, or it gets hot, is that what we want. Or maybe it was just hot and everyone had a medical condition
This is laughable... The stands are always emptying out before the final whistle against a non conference opponent, during the september "heat stroke" games. Heck the first one that comes to mind was the Fresno St. game in I believe 2005 or 2006. A few will remember seeing the 12th man walk from side to side on the top two decks during overtime to yell because the stands were so empty. Yes, you can sit here and say "well back in my day that never happened" but we all know that is not true. It has always happened, as far back as 1985. I know I know... anything after 1985 is New Army and they've been going to hell since 1938.
Fresno State was 2007. I remember it because it was my fish year and we sweated out our bravos by the second quarter, and people were going down like flies after halftime. Hel, even before halftime, we were worried that we'd have holes in the drill because people were passing out, no matter how much they tried to stay hydrated. What really sucked was that as soon as the game finally ended, the damn clouds opened up and rained on everyone for all of 2 minutes. Then we smelled like dry cleaning chemicals and sweat through the Spirit and Victory Boof, and somehow it was even more humid than during the game.

The heat was brutal. My seats were in the shade by 11:15 BUT it took me two days to recover. Also, the sound system in our section (408) was deafening. Sounded like a rock concert. Sone people were having to put thei fingers in their ears because of the VERY loud music. Saw some of those fans leave...can't blame them!

Maybe Juan Charp will start busing RGV Ags in from McAllen, rings and all. That will help, they are used to heat.

And there used to be only 2-3 football games on tv. And men used to wear button down shirts and ties to sporting events. And there used to be zero tailgating. Phones used to only be used at home. There used to be nothing called the internet.

There are a lot of used to's in sports but I would take today over most of them - especially when it comes to attendance smack.

This isn't something new...if you think you have never seen Kyle that empty then you clearly never went to a game during the Fran years. I remember being able to stretch out over 4 rows on the second deck in the student section during the Iowa St game in 2005 because so many people left.

This is similar to how your grandpa tells stories of walking 4 miles uphill, both ways, to school.
