I think this is hilarious.
I spent 10 years of my life preparing to go to Texas A&M. I have three dresser drawers full of A&M jerseys and sweatshirts to prove it. My best friends went here and my best friend was on top of the bonfire when it fell.
The February of my senior year, I chose to attend Baylor University. I knew it was a private school, and that it's mechanical engineering school ranked 5 places ahead of A&M according to US News. Of course, the professor that convinced me to come left for A&M the following semester...
BUT, I think the people who come on here and talk about the rich, pretty boys and snotty girls at Baylor have only been to Waco or Baylor once or twice.
With one exception, none of my friends are from wealthy families. None of my friends drive fancy cars. I drive a 10-year old Chevy Diesel pickup. The one guy that's the exception is freakin' royalty, so I don't think he counts as "typical Baylor student". I interned with a couple of Aggies from Southlake this summer. They reminded me of Baylor frat guys. Not that it's bad, just not my cup of tea.
As for ghetto, my girlfriend lives just inside Bryan, and that's just as bad as the area around Baylor. Just 'cause you have a lot of fields around your ghetto, doesn't mean it ain't there.
My point is, you can rationalize and pick and choose things that support your argument, but it doesn't change the fact that your incredible generalizations are just that. Stereotypes. BaylorGirl had it right. Saying everyone at Baylor is a super-rich pretty boy is like saying everyone at A&M is a farmer who enjoys the company of sheep.
My girlfriend attends A&M. More than half the people I grew up with attend A&M. There aren't a whole lot of differences between the people I know at Baylor and the people I know at A&M.
I am a big fan of A&M, and a HUGE fan of Baylor. Loving A&M doesn't mean you have to hate every other school in Texas. You aren't cheating on A&M.
And I guarantee you, there are at least two guys I know that can drink anyone you know under the table. Not I, I don't drink. But the rich guy I mentioned. I guarantee... I've seen him drink 2 liters of vodka, and then host a party.
Anyway, this won't change your mind, but maybe it will give you something to think about. Hate away.
